Hello, and welcome to the Nintendo Switch UK podcast. This is episode number 39. Thank you very much for downloading and listening. We'll get on to all the details about where you can find us online and all that fun stuff in just a moment. But first of all, Hello, I'm Mike.

Anton Winters 0:29

I'm Oh, I'm Anton.

Mike Macdermid 0:31

Yes. And we are back for episode number 39. I can't believe we're on episode 39. When you think about it, that's, that's a lot. And actually, when you add in the specials at something like our 43rd podcast, or 44, or something like that, it is

Al Struthers 0:44

but it feels like we have this revelation every week.

Mike Macdermid 0:47

We can get surprised or still here. Yeah, well, no, it's good. And and actually, the good news is that the figures and the numbers are going up as well. So we've actually had more I think the one pass last week's episode 30 Seven is know right off the top. I think of people listening to it. And certainly last week's is really good as well. So

Al Struthers 1:05

so if you're new to the show, welcome,

Mike Macdermid 1:07

welcome to you let us know if you're new by the way you can get in touch with us in various ways. We are on Twitter, it's NS Uk podcast on twitter. Anton does a fabulous website. I say Anton because pretty much Anton does all the work. It's an SUKP coda UK. We also have

Al Struthers 1:23

their little email which says they will but the only thing I pick up which is a podcast@nsukp.co. UK

Mike Macdermid 1:30

Yeah, and as well as that we're on pretty much every download place you can get your podcast from we are there so you can leave reviews to on the apple podcast web

Al Struthers 1:41

app. The only thing with us now you can't go to iTunes and it's just because

Mike Macdermid 1:43

it's not I

Al Struthers 1:45

mean, this is just as confused every royally

Mike Macdermid 1:48

it has it really has actually speaking of the Anton we actually had a review review just the other day. So we're up to 30 to five stars on iTunes slash Apple podcast and the funny thing is we've actually we did some Research this week, Alden we about where people listen or the end of last week's episode and we discovered that actually our listeners on the apple podcast app are less than pretty much all the other ones so that's true so it's great that these reviews are going in there it's just that a lot of them don't seem to have the review sections so

Al Struthers 2:18

not that we could find data but maybe we were just being useless.

Unknown Speaker 2:20

Yeah, tell us

Mike Macdermid 2:21

if there's somewhere else that people have left us reviews maybe we're one star somewhere else

Al Struthers 2:26

here anywhere you want to review if you want to serve I know. I'm not gonna encourage graffiti. But if you want to put it on a note and pin it politely to a tree Yeah,

Mike Macdermid 2:34

that would be fine a joke around and behind the camera and a live news broadcast on nice one

Al Struthers 2:38

nice street shaking who good to podcasters

Mike Macdermid 2:40

do all that. You know, all goods just make sure if it's a sandwich boards, that you're covering anything that needs covered. I don't know why you'd be naked with a sandwich board my head that's

Al Struthers 2:49

your mind works in interesting ways. Okay,

Mike Macdermid 2:50

on that note, let's talk about this week's review very quickly. I love the headline of this week's review from conquers one good day is a great name for Brittany and Michael Baba Baba was wrong I found what I was looking for those which is great nice little YouTube reference there now I the review reads after searching and listening to quite a few What a joy to discover the spot podcast. great bunch of guys that get all the good stuff quickly and with great humour I even like the quiz so keep in looking forward to joining you on the journey through this switch life now Could you please make me good at whole night? You and me both?

Unknown Speaker 3:26

Yeah, and

Anton Winters 3:29

yet completely underestimate how hard that game is and non centre like it was a great deal but for only getting so far, who knows.

Mike Macdermid 3:37

And also people can see how difficult it is because you did a live stream as well on it. So on our YouTube page, that's another place by the way.

Anton Winters 3:47

Yeah, thank you to everybody who joined us for the Super Monkey Ball stream that was a similarly a very hard game, or maybe I'm just really bad at them. It's a mystery of the universe.

Mike Macdermid 3:57

If you want to check us out on YouTube, actually. We are going to do a few more of these live streams and Anton's been doing a few and I know al and I are planning to some point maybe around Christmas we might get jumping in to that. But yeah, they

Al Struthers 4:08

are like five minutes together.

Mike Macdermid 4:09

Yeah, that would be good. Good. Also on Twitter there were a few people messaging is there thank you to back back in. bollocks.

Unknown Speaker 4:19

That's the name

Mike Macdermid 4:20

it doesn't look as rude it actually sounds worse when I read it Luke see literally when I read it

Al Struthers 4:25

when you read it it looks like

Mike Macdermid 4:26

Alex blight seven so thank you very much. It's hi guys relatively new to the switch family so catching up with the podcast from the beginning. Lovely, great stuff. So by the time they hear this, they'll be like six months down the road. less time investing regularly. I have a question on Mario Tennis aces. Is there a head to head option similar to we tennis been told it's great but no actual head to head Anton you did a bit of research because although I've played the demo, I was playing single player so I didn't know the answer to this but you did some research

Anton Winters 4:55

and deed appears I believe off the top of my head if you go and select the Free Play option with n there this an option to get the two player stuff and but to correct me if I'm wrong but off the top of my head I believe that's how you get into the sport so

Al Struthers 5:14

that's it because I did actually play that mode briefly when the demos renderer Yep, that's exactly it and it's really good one

Mike Macdermid 5:18

and only all did Twitter he could have answered it for us even more quickly than you did Anton while I no reason for Google email. Yeah also souls like gamer on Twitter to remember last week, we had a message about Rambo and I was really, really confused. It said there are actually quite a few Rambo games. These are just a few and they give us four screenshots of four different games from different eras. And I reply genetically saying all who knew there were so many Rambo games not knowing that actually we had mentioned rumble in Episode Number 37. And it was during the quiz Allaster guest Rambo for the Earthworm Jim question. I even said get in touch if you have ever played around ball game. That is actually one of my favourite tweets. We had. To be fair, I said that and I did see that's amazing. We've got such bad memories. And they came back and said, Well, it was only a one off comment. But seriously guys, great podcast. So thank you so much. Oh,

Al Struthers 6:16

thank you. We've been gifted and you call us with gifts. We've been gifted review every week for the last month.

Mike Macdermid 6:21

Yes. In fact, one week we had three but we're we're averaging about one a week and over the last month or two.

Al Struthers 6:28

This is great. Thank you very much, everyone. Yeah, it's

Mike Macdermid 6:30

much helpful to us. And as we mentioned before, we only say it because we want people to realise that we do this because we enjoy playing the switch no other reason we don't make any money. We spend money doing this at the moment. And you know, we are coming up to the end of episode one at the end of 2019. But it is a huge boost when we get these reviews. Thank you so much. And similarly enough account lets us know if we need to tweak or just anything so I have very handy to know what we're doing good and bad. Yes, yes. I Absolutely. Okay, before we move on to this week's news, I think I quite liked talking about what we've been playing even it was not very much because it you know, it's good to know where we're all at with things. So I'll start with Alice or this week because I normally start with Anton but what's

Al Struthers 7:12

what have you been playing? Mine's a quick and easy answer more Pokemon. EV.

Mike Macdermid 7:16

Let's go to you. How you how far through Are you know,

Al Struthers 7:18

not much further because I haven't played that much play a bit of Mario Kart today as well. Okay. Yeah. Now, I've not been doing any exciting. What about you, Anton? Oh, I've actually

Anton Winters 7:26

been playing a little bit more this week. And I gay and I went to a friend's house and I finally trade down well, and that's that game, your name p on the east door and it's about falling down caverns. And

Mike Macdermid 7:38

can you do in

Unknown Speaker 7:40

other more portrait mode.

Anton Winters 7:41

I was playing on TV mode. So I never got a chance to experiment with that sadly. And I did quiz the person who owned it and they had no idea either that that was even a possibility. So but it's only able to 69 on the east or like Phil retail price at some point and pick up at an old calculation. back. And similar to that I finally gave juice remember night capital?

Mike Macdermid 8:05

Yes The Mega CD.

Anton Winters 8:07

Yeah that yes Mega CD. Yeah it was mega it's a classic FMV it's almost like nightmare on elm tree pull up like

Mike Macdermid 8:15

I'll I'll tell you something on to I've been toying with this because I got some birthday. Spend money from James. For the C sharp very kind of James. Yes. Yeah, well, we share it. We have a birthday run at the same time. So we bite to the present. But I have I had give me 15 pounds to spend in the store. I'll tell you what I did buy but this I've got a little bit left over and I was considering this just because of nostalgia. But tell me about Night Trap.

Anton Winters 8:40

Yes. So it's currently on sale for both free pounds so you can snap out for quite good deal and it's basically the premise of it as FMV you're looking through the security cameras of this house where I am essentially a slumber party and the classic 80s Nightmare on Elm Street a bunch of teenagers in a house sale at Goldman Thank all five of them. So what they do is they arrange a new slumber party but this time there's one sleeper agent within the group and obviously you the players are looking for the webcam, setting up, setting off traps kill get the diverting all of the colours. And yeah it's just so cheesy and it gets further and further and further ridiculous and in all fairness to for being a Mega CD game actually looks surprisingly sharp and tonnes of options and they've even got a free article cut included in there. So now you're not really feeling the gameplay. You can just kind of skip through and get the movie experience if you're rather cool. Yeah, that

Mike Macdermid 9:40

might be tempted with my remaining few pounds that I have left. Just briefly on the Mega CD I I got my Mega CD, Christmas 9495. I was very very excited at the time when it came out and maybe slightly before that actually but it was around that and I remember a few the games but I remember one of the games being in excess mix. Your own music video, and you had to make it there are three access songs and you had to make a video using different cuts. And then you had to quickly sort of like as if you were alive editing this video go right? Go to that scene, go to that scene, and then at the end, they would tell you if your video was any good and usually mine wasn't. And there was a Sherlock Holmes detective game that I had on the Mega CD as well. Those were my two moments and a racing game that came out at launch with it as well. Which was

Al Struthers 10:25

we make your own music video game actually sounds quite good.

Mike Macdermid 10:28

It was quite fun like to give that back. Yeah, cry baby cry baby cries at the song. Oh, no, it's a Beatle song. Baby don't cry baby. Don't cry baby. Don't cry. That was the song Oh, yeah. So maybe we'll YouTube after this.

Al Struthers 10:42

That sounds fun. Let's do that.

Anton Winters 10:43

But yeah, I love I love those FMVVM so sir, just said the embodiment of may ease cringe and Nate Nate trap was like a good case study and I feel like it would be nice to see some of them get poured across close. They're nice. Like FQ you're Catholic myself Mike, where you don't have The most time in the world so being able to get a game you can complete and I think you complete a like very, very minutes like it's not a very long game programme so you can you can bleed for it and get the full experience and and not worry about wasting your money which is nice.

Mike Macdermid 11:14

Yeah not at that price. I mean when it's on sale like that then it kind of, you know, it makes the decision for you. My only reason I haven't bitten yet is because there's so much on sale again. They've been really good to us recently. We've got off the back of one sale now we've got a whole new one.

Anton Winters 11:29

Yeah, and this one that's like they're not even hyping it up. They're just like, Here's just any game you want. Just take I know. But yeah, similar. And final game this month has been at this week has been trails rising if any of us have give that a go. I have played a little bit. Yeah, but not an awful lot. Yeah, so it's a fun game, except for the graphical downgrades but game please where's my hours and it's surprisingly feel of content. What just been a surprise coming from transfusion?

Mike Macdermid 11:57

Yeah, absolutely. Absolutely. This week I have I've been playing more science gates I'm trying to get to that number but 12 hours in know I've got a journey to Glasgow and back on Thursday and I'll be on the train so I'm probably going to try and get through that or one of the other games just try and kind of fire through that while I've got the time and I've also in the sale so with the the money that I was given for my birthday, I bought the two Batman games

Unknown Speaker 12:27

which to Batman was the telltale

Mike Macdermid 12:28

ones. So there is no ark, the ark of asylum and RM City haven't come out and I didn't tell you about it. You know, I wish they had because I think they would be fantastic on the switch. But But no, I bought the two Telltale Games. I have played half of the first one on the PlayStation. The first chapter, I think I played I

Al Struthers 12:45

didn't realise you were back in the store.

Mike Macdermid 12:47

They're both on the store and they're six pounds each

Al Struthers 12:49

right now What happened?

Unknown Speaker 12:51

Well,

Al Struthers 12:52

because delta was only relatively recently acquired.

Mike Macdermid 12:55

Yeah, but I think was it not just before all that happened, the second game was released. Because

Al Struthers 13:00

there are physical older IP everything that was pulled so that's that's actually quite big news is back in the store

Mike Macdermid 13:07

well the there was another company came in and then sort of acquired or looks after everything as far as I'm aware of I know that that that's now it looks like we're you know they're going to be doing more stuff in a different format but Anton Do you know anything about what the reasons are or what

Anton Winters 13:22

yeah, I seminars I will start with saying like I recall them game like the shoot you're getting reset up with new management and all that stuff, but I guess it makes it seems very quick for them to get back on but I guess as soon as you start a new company, I guess the first thing you want to do is get that cash flow running again so but yeah, I'm surprised there wasn't more of a pro when they got them on the east or again,

Mike Macdermid 13:44

well, six pounds 37 or something each and the enemy within is the second one and I got both of them for 600 pounds each and I love the Telltale Games. I love the storeys behind them. So yeah, I've downloaded both of them and I am very much looking forward Playing that on the goal. So

Al Struthers 14:02

yeah, I might have to come pick them up. I have them on the PC somewhere. And they're really good

Mike Macdermid 14:05

at six pounds each to have them portable for me, you know, the good storeys and I haven't finished the storey. So even better, you know, so I, again I thought well that's a good way to spend, you know, a Tanner or just over a Tanner. So

Al Struthers 14:15

good move my man. Yes,

Mike Macdermid 14:17

I speaking of good moves, I think a good move would be to move on to this week's news. So what let's kick off with some news about a new game, which is coming to the Nintendo Switch in 2020. And I did actually watch the trailer of this today. And it's called inertial drift. And as a new twin stick drift game that's coming from level 91 I'll tell you what the Anton drift is definitely the name of the game according to that trailer.

Anton Winters 14:45

Yeah, it's it's fascinating to see it's got this whole new control scheme where I think looking at it you control both the front and the back of the car independently using the two sticks and which is quite nice to say, when it comes down to doing the self game. The triggers are the weakest part of the switch experience at be another note, actually Kelly analogue triggers. So Kelly coming up with a whole new control seems seems really innovative. And most of us played any former drift games before?

Mike Macdermid 15:15

No, I haven't played any of them. But the idea of the twin stick thing is intriguing. I think it's, it could take a little bit of time to get used to if you're used to traditional driving games. I mean, you're probably the driving game of the team. That right driving game Person of the team. Yeah,

Al Struthers 15:30

I mean, I play roughly quite a few hours, obviously racing and driving into the past. I've not done one that's been specifically about drifting. But the control scheme Exactly. Anton said, the left that controls your front wheels, basic controls, you turn the right stick basically controls the backup car and you spend an entire time driving 90 degrees to the road fast in a really very arcadey kind of a way but it looks like quite it looks quite good fun.

Mike Macdermid 15:51

Obviously. It looks Yeah, it looks good as well presented and Alyssa styles

Al Struthers 15:54

artwork is very cool, sort of

Mike Macdermid 15:57

soft associated. It's in between for me It looked like In between an absolute arcade experience and a little bit more serious, but not to the level where you're actually is not a simulation, you know?

Al Struthers 16:06

Yes. piqued my interest. Yeah, I'll say that much. Yeah.

Anton Winters 16:08

And similarly, it's like you see so many racing games and it can sometimes be if you're not like a car head and looking at me like, oh, that has a new suit pro or something like that. It can just look like you're buying like, was almost like FIFA buying, like, same game, but just refined. But this is like, it looks to be something new in you know, with so many games in the market. That's a good thing to be. And even more importantly, there's local multiplayer split screen. Yeah,

Mike Macdermid 16:30

that's good. I think that's, especially with a switch. I mean, it's great having the online multiplayer in certain games, but for you know, for a lot of people, I find switch gamers particularly like multiplayer, local multiplayer. Maybe it's just the way the switches move, because we don't have the likes of the call of duty and all that, you know,

Al Struthers 16:47

maybe a genuine older or younger audience. Yeah,

Mike Macdermid 16:50

it probably is. You're probably right. It probably does sit exactly like that, I think in the

Al Struthers 16:53

demographic online and the post online. Yeah. I think we were pre online where we were pretty online. Yeah, so it's like

Unknown Speaker 17:03

old people so that's what he was saying

Mike Macdermid 17:04

right move on then let's move on then to our next announcement this week this was one that got everyone talking I did actually downloads re download fortnite this week because of the chapter two is official Anton did you did you have any experience of people

Anton Winters 17:21

losing it yet? We we own we've borderline jumped the gun last week because it was a leak that chapter two is going to be a thing last week but yeah, so if you're not familiar with so i whole scenario here and end of season 10 a fortnight and they destroyed the universe. They had a black hole. And it was trending number one on Twitter as well. Yeah, they took down the servers and couldn't play anymore. And

Mike Macdermid 17:46

payments everywhere. Were rejoicing because they've spoken to the kid for the first time in five years. What's your name again?

Al Struthers 17:54

You didn't have a beard when you started playing that game.

Anton Winters 17:56

But yeah, it's actually quite funny because I'm ended up being A backlash from parents for just leaving kids in the dark and upsetting them and all that stuff but you mean you've got to go outside and play i know i know but it's all came full circle no because we've caught chapter two which looks to be Calif a version two point over finding as a whole brand new map and they've got rid of the thousands of weapons now which appears to be counselled to highlight some it's kind of got your new standardised like it's a shotgun it's a sniper it's a rocket launcher and slice Calif you don't need to understand like foes in different versions of an assault rifle for instance.

Al Struthers 18:38

Yeah, time for me to jump into the game than having never played it.

Anton Winters 18:42

Yeah, that looks to be it because I believe it's worth this update the added the box we chatted about a couple episodes back so it looks to me really making the game a lot more accessible.

Mike Macdermid 18:51

And I jumped in in being a complete newbie when it comes to the building aspect of fortnight and I jumped in and Actually, I quite I didn't play for long because you know, I've got a short attention span but I did play a little bit and actually I think I probably could get into it if I wasn't playing a million other games so I think you might be right and I did wonder if chapter two because they're going to reset everything maybe it was a good time so I'd be interested to read more about what the differences are maybe maybe look up a good YouTube tutorial on it or something maybe

Anton Winters 19:25

Yeah, because similarly there that's I'm curious to give it a go myself because I remember jump again when fortnite just like like when it went from save the world so original game that you had to pay for money and then went to the free to free to play model trying it then and be like I have no idea because it was fell on the top the lore of the save the world game. Yeah. And then it was all kind of confusing with all the different weapons and now it looks like they've really streamlined it for at bat round which is quite saying

Mike Macdermid 19:53

Yeah, well, it's. Anyway chapter two is official. You can go and download it if you haven't already. fortnite is free to download and it's a Lot of times invest that's the only thing you will definitely be investing in his time. But you can just play it for free without any of the micro transaction stuff if you want to, which is what I did not very successfully button

Al Struthers 20:11

sold me probably what I'll do unsuccessfully as well.

Mike Macdermid 20:14

Next up this is quite an important one actually quite a different turn to the last announcement but a VG in vector which is a new rhythm game is kind of the Nintendo Switch this winter now, the big thing with this is that a portion of the profits will be going to the Tim burgling Foundation, which of course Tim burgling being a VG and the goal of their foundation is to tackle mental health stigma so really important reason to perhaps check this one out rhythm games just talking about rhythm games. First of all, Anton, we downloaded what was that one we downloaded? We all downloaded it about a year ago for 99 pence.

Anton Winters 20:51

Oh, you suggested yeah or lost in harmony lost in harmony well remember

Mike Macdermid 20:57

and lost in harmony actually. It's it's a interesting because that actually has a storyline that goes through it which kind of touches on difficult situations. Now this is obviously much more specific and there is a reason to, you know, if you are supports are all of, you know, tackling mental health stigma. There's a reason behind that, you know, from that point of view to invest in this. Hopefully the game is also good, but rhythm games, given that you've got a V cheese name behind it, you would expect that this might be quite strong.

Anton Winters 21:27

Yeah, it's, as well says, it does seem like there's a lot of substance on his bones here. And it seems like a less evil version of bumper if any of us have played that game. Oh, yeah. That is called a good soundtrack. It looks like

Mike Macdermid 21:42

Yeah, exactly. So. So that's one to check out. Do we know Do we have any idea of like a really so we know is winter but there's nothing more yet?

Anton Winters 21:49

Yeah, I think it's just that when it's ready. It's ready. Counter game. Sure. Sure. But I'm sure I'm sure this will catch many people's attention.

Mike Macdermid 21:56

Yeah, I think we'll see something in the the ranking Press about this as well which can only be a good thing you know both for awareness of the foundation itself but also just for people finding out about what what's available on the switch as well and this is coming to the switch so hopefully that'll be

Al Struthers 22:12

yeah it was I think far as I'm aware is committed on all platforms at the same time including the switch good excellent.

Mike Macdermid 22:17

Nice. All right, next up chuckle fish have announced a free DLC called war groove double trouble. It's a large court focused DLC adding a new storey and three new outlaw commanders no release date yet I don't play any war groove but I know it's hugely popular Anton Have you done any of this? I haven't

Anton Winters 22:36

played it yet. But I am similar least one I constantly see at so if any of you guys on the world of Twitter and Facebook have given a goal as let us know because it's it's it looks like a serious title. And you know with quote though, maybe it might be the time to get out a goal.

Mike Macdermid 22:54

It's one thing I want to do next in 2021 of my kind of, because it's a new decade. It's not just a New Year's in new decade we're coming to I want to do more don't look sarcastically out

Unknown Speaker 23:05

of like sarcastic like

Unknown Speaker 23:06

oh really a new decade

Mike Macdermid 23:08

I'm sorry I thought I was quite a big deal

Anton Winters 23:11

anyways a big deal

Mike Macdermid 23:12

i think i don't know that i think it's quite a good time for me anyway to try and play some different things are outside of my comfort zone so one of the things I want to do next year is team up and do some Co Op stuff on some some more strategy based games with someone that might want to you know invest a little bit of time in that or do something a little bit different and this might be the kind of title given the call that that might just do it I'll what about you have you have you ever been to kind of strategy games perfect Theme Hospital

Al Struthers 23:40

apart from that kind of thing? Not really is the answer to that?

Unknown Speaker 23:43

They do intrigued me

Al Struthers 23:44

they borrow the word mental the Yeah, they really do they look like you're quite good fun as just trying to intend to invest and that's my problem. Yeah, I'd love to give it a shot.

Mike Macdermid 23:53

The one the carrot Kira soft games, which are like the ones that were mobile games, very basic, but the for the Video Game one they did. Where you run a video games company. It's a strategy, totally different type of strategy game, but it's still, it's got that thing where you want to come back and build and do more. And my problem was, that's one of the ones I played. And I got so obsessed with it. I was playing all night and I wasn't sleeping, because I feel like this kind of game could do that for me as well, where I get really obsessed, and I must improve everything you know, and get better at everything. And I think there is definitely that element to it. But I'd be interested to have a go anyway. But what about you, Anton? And no, no, you said that you're intrigued by it. But is it something that you're going to jump into at some point soon?

Anton Winters 24:35

Yeah, I feel like this is a sort of game that I would need to demo to really sink my teeth into. And yeah, I am not from the trailers and visually seeing anything that's pulling me into but obviously, I know there's a fan base. So if there was a demo, I would be up for giving out ago.

Al Struthers 24:55

Yeah, absolutely. Well, I know the format you can get in Mike. It's coming in hardcopy as a physical thing on the 20th October love LinkedIn deluxe edition

Mike Macdermid 25:02

nine days from the recording date of this episode.

Al Struthers 25:04

Yes, exactly

Mike Macdermid 25:07

next up stir as a strange games are stronger,

Anton Winters 25:11

stronger,

Mike Macdermid 25:12

stronger you know it's sometimes you know I look at words and I think oh maybe that's a typo but no you're absolutely spot on stronger games which is a great name they've announced and launched just ignore them which is a pixelated point and click hotter game by stronger games. I am I love point and click I love pixel art I could be interested in this I'm still I've still got to finish them but we'd Park them about six hours into that point and click and this has got that kind of retro feel to it as you'd imagine it's pointing clicking it's pixelated so obviously it does anyone got any interest in this? I do.

Anton Winters 25:47

Yeah, it's got some good under tail faces. It looks like something a little bit new a little bit interesting and it's even then it's soul and Calvin detach from realistic graphics like it's a very, very pixelated sale. It's not like a 16. But it's like not even an eight. It's borderline lower than eight. But so how it's going to be scary is going to be like he can't rely on just having some Glor just covered, like jumps or anything like it will have to be very creative and it's horror, which I think

Al Struthers 26:19

I think it'd be dark. If you look at the trailer, there's some pretty dark stuff in there as

Mike Macdermid 26:24

well. There's two there's two things. There's two things on that under till it's still for me one of the creepiest games I've ever played. And it does not rely whatsoever on graphical, you know, aptitude or graphical progress to make it scary. It's just got that creepy undertone when it needs to do it, do it. This you suggesting is a bit darker and its themes. Obviously, we won't go into them but I'm assuming that that means that there's more of a kind of to do with the themes that's going to make it to I yeah, that's my suspicion. Looking at the trailer.

Al Struthers 26:55

Okay. Yeah. Language game does look interesting. Yeah.

Mike Macdermid 26:59

I think I like this because I like the I love under tail I love that kind of old vibe I love the art I can only see a little bit the trailer from where I'm sitting right now so you've got it right in front of you I don't want to look too much because I feel like I'm good I'm going to get drawn in but maybe don't watch it with your kids is next up jack box party pack six has been announced and its second release with support for up to 10 players which is a Sunday

Al Struthers 27:24

will dance here I know

Mike Macdermid 27:25

because we we have done this a few times and we need to do more actually because it is such a fun experience we can we

Al Struthers 27:32

were talking about actually doing one of these as a group and live stream it because you can you can invite you want to watch you play.

Mike Macdermid 27:37

Yes, I think that would be a great idea. The new one maybe that's something we'll look at but the new ones got trivia murder Party, which is always fun as a new version. That's good dictionary. Push the button joke bought, and or joke but again, but I'm assuming it's something else but there's something else in there as well. But it's I've seen the trailer for this. It looks very much like if you played any of the previous ones. You'll know what to expect. I always say If any of the previous ones come on sale and you ever have friends around for a Saturday night, even if they're not gamers, it's the perfect game to get people in.

Al Struthers 28:09

It doesn't really matter which one you buy, I think was the best one and I've got three certainly Yeah,

Unknown Speaker 28:14

I got to you know, go for maybe four,

Al Struthers 28:17

but by one of the greatest Yeah,

Mike Macdermid 28:19

I think three or four the ones that tend to be recommended first off by any of them. I know that you've played a bit of the jukebox games as well.

Anton Winters 28:26

Yeah, I've I've historically picked them up individually on Steam and stuff like that. So at the one file policy because it pains me up a little just after if you see a pack that you like, generally just go for it because they they're not one they help they hold their value because the first couple chatbots part parts are kept getting older and age and they're still like high value titles. And to be honest, the age doesn't really come across because the type of game as you can go back to them decades later, and they still have the same value. And yeah, just your perfect I'm gold people who aren't gamers stealer easy pick up play look at as part of addiction or tech scenario game looks quite fun Yeah, I think

Mike Macdermid 29:06

you're exactly right hands on it is it's one of those games that if you've got friends coming around over Christmas you probably want this because it's just an easy way to keep the entertainment level up not again maybe not one with kids because I think there are a few adult themes in there or

Al Struthers 29:21

you can be as rude as you want to be okay yeah you

Mike Macdermid 29:24

know maybe there's only adult themes when we when we play

Anton Winters 29:26

some of the questionable very questionable

Mike Macdermid 29:31

forever entertainment of a notes agony it's going to switch later this month is a hotter first person survival game set in that lovely place called how

Anton Winters 29:41

Yes, and this possibly will be the glorious game on switch yet. And reviewers have Mex opinions on the previous port so that it can apparently help Let's sit down in the game department of it. At hover Calif. It seems to be universally praised. For its portrayed of hell, but as a little bit repetitive in the gameplay sense and for very graphic and this is possibly one of the most efforts are when it says it's our rate it's very our rates it's also

Mike Macdermid 30:16

terrifying I just looked at a screenshot that I'll just showed me and I think I've got a burn burned into my memory now I've only got to look at it again To be honest,

Al Struthers 30:23

I'm horrified.

Mike Macdermid 30:25

You're not good at anything go to your city. So

Al Struthers 30:26

that's not good. To be fair. That's no go to escape. I'm still

Mike Macdermid 30:30

very odd. But yes, another horror first person survival game, but this one may be a little more adults. Yes.

Al Struthers 30:37

Another one not suitable for kids.

Mike Macdermid 30:39

Yes. The theme of the show today. That's a good this one in our rating. Okay, but we don't because we haven't mentioned anything now. Next up arcade archives. We talked about this weekly. They're certainly keeping these going. Quick fire Anton.

Anton Winters 30:52

Yeah, we were literally two weeks ago. We're like, yeah, they're running out of steam. And then they've had two fairly high profile games. Back to back. Yeah, with this week we've got vs Castlevania at for the usual 629 price. So, if you've ran out of Castlevania games from the Castlevania collection, I guess this is your last resort.

Mike Macdermid 31:14

Yeah. Is this was this? Was this the actual arcade Castlevania from back in the days? Yeah.

Anton Winters 31:18

It's basically just a calling version of the original. And, you know, Calvin any f1 basically the same game? It's a very hard recommendation. What the Castlevania collection already on switch? Yeah. So it's Carol. As I was mentioned, I think this is your last resort. If you've blazed through all the Castlevania you can get your hands on.

Mike Macdermid 31:43

Yeah. 629. If you do want to go and buy it, it's that same question. It's that same issue again, it's the pricing of it. But also, I saw this I thought, Oh, good. They've got a good they've got a good solid title that people are going to be like, Oh, yeah. Oh, I like Castlevania. But you're right with the Castlevania collection out there. It just makes it hard to recommend looks good though. I gotta say it does remind me very much of I've gotten a style jet like just looking at the screenshots right now. I've got this absolutely strategic kind of like, Oh, I long for those days of playing arcades and playing games like Castlevania, but realistically, I'm not going to go and buy it. 629 Probably not.

Al Struthers 32:19

No, leave it where it is for me. Yeah.

Mike Macdermid 32:22

Next up space can studio and XD network have a nice, juicy realm. Another ordinary, it's a new twin stick shooter, another twin stick one. It's coming on November the seventh 13 pounds and 49 pence. So I'm assuming one of the ones that you sort of run around the, the the sort of the space that you're in and you just basically shoot everything from every angle.

Anton Winters 32:46

Yeah, I think you've basically summarised that there I watched the trailer earlier today and it's completely eluded me, so my apologies to everyone. Okay.

Unknown Speaker 32:57

Yeah, like

Al Struthers 32:58

the artist is not all There's games coming over here reason I was pretty, there's a few there's something really stand out. But this one just makes me happy looking at it.

Mike Macdermid 33:05

Yeah, it's got that kind of real classy animation to it. That's it's a little more it's quite popi that pops out

Al Struthers 33:14

you know, pop is a really good word for it's very healthy and it also is quite funny.

Mike Macdermid 33:18

It's got it's actually got elements of the game that we talked about last week which copy the other game.

Al Struthers 33:23

That's really helpful. Yeah, we talked we had a whole thing about last week. The know exactly what you mean. You might do the Kickstarter one that started that. That copied

Anton Winters 33:32

compared to the Copperhead claw. Yeah, yeah.

Mike Macdermid 33:34

It's got a small element of Copperhead in that trailer. You know.

Al Struthers 33:39

I'll give you a licence plate know you're you're the host go for it whenever you think that there's a there's a

Unknown Speaker 33:46

there's a condescending disagreement.

Unknown Speaker 33:49

Anyway,

Mike Macdermid 33:50

check it out. It's the trailers. I knows November the seventh juicy cup had no juicy Overwatch is out now. Yay. Kind of causing a bit of conversation basically people saying, if it's the only way you can play Overwatch, great. If you've got another way to play it do it that way.

Anton Winters 34:11

Yeah, it's really interesting where it's at this one kind of snuck up on me personally not to look at the reviews, and hearing people chat about a lot of people who have played Overwatch because at this point A lot of people have, like, there's not many who haven't at this point and there yet a lot of the critiques I don't know, to yourself, but coming from somebody who haven't played Overwatch, the fact that it might not hit 60 frames per second all the time and might delve into the 50s. I struggle to see that as a huge deterrent. And

Mike Macdermid 34:44

yeah, for me, I tell so we're about to mention the Witcher three so I'll just bring them in together. So Overwatch and Witcher three have both been released similar criticisms people are saying, you know what, if you've got another way to play these games play it but they're not often supportable then you don't have on your switch. I don't have another way to play it. I know that you Well, you've got ps4,

Al Struthers 35:01

technically own one, but they don't have it

Mike Macdermid 35:03

yet. So for me, I would rather have these games ports to play. I don't really care if it's running at 60 frames per second.

Al Struthers 35:10

Yeah. Likewise, as long as I can play some of the screens on the same plate with my pro controller, yeah, I'm quite happy. You can see it might be a bit of a weird experience on the switchboard, but I still like the option to do it.

Mike Macdermid 35:20

Yeah. And the thing about the Witcher three as well, a lot of people are sort of saying, you know, they've had to downgrade some of the textures and it's not running as smoothly as, but you know what the experience is the same, the game is the same. And I've also heard other people say the opposite where they've said, You know what, I've played Witcher three on two or three systems, because it's my game. It's the one that I love playing and I started a new adventure on the switch, and I'm loving it even more. Because I've got that connection with it. I can bring it into, you know, to my hands and kind of sit and play in bed or I can play it if I've got an hour at work or whatever. And I have, I don't care. I really don't care.

Al Struthers 35:51

If you're the kind of person is buying the Witcher three for the switch. You probably don't care that it's not the most powerful console graphics. horsepower isn't the thing that switch Therefore, it's not what us buyers body games on Therefore,

Mike Macdermid 36:03

I started SkyDrive know, I started sky them on the PlayStation four, Playstation three I should say. And I've done more on the switch and had a more enjoyable experience in the switch than I did previously in the PlayStation three, partly because I just put the cartridge in and play. And one of the great things with the switches, the updates are nowhere near as big as you get on other systems. You don't have to wait for 10 hours to have another system update, you know the system. These are quick and they're small. So that's great. And and also just because I can't have it forcibly so for me, I don't I can't say I really notice a huge change. You know, so it depends how you play it though, Anton, doesn't it? I mean, if you I'm curious. I actually just very quickly, just remember this the funniest comparison I saw this week. And this is true. Somebody on one of the Nintendo forums I'm on the Nintendo over 30s on Facebook. I'm also on the Nintendo Switch page and someone on a Nintendo Switch page. Honestly put up a review and screenshots of the switch the switcher three vs. vs on his PC which is a 5000 pound machine that he spent six months building with all the most expensive components and you know his conclusion was switch to a better no no it's no better his conclusion was the PC sharper it definitely looks better than the switch version and it's probably a more optimum way to play it

Unknown Speaker 37:33

yes so blip at

Mike Macdermid 37:35

5000 pound weights and play Of course it's gotta be better than your switch.

Al Struthers 37:40

Oh great very funny if it wasn't

Mike Macdermid 37:42

I would have been but yeah, the thing

Anton Winters 37:44

I think always slight illustrates this point as we've got the the port of say scales on the switch. I've seen like a fair few people that clear. And that game literally runs 12 frames per second on the sweat with like horrible graphic downgrades people. So click because it's it's the handheld will play off so that's like a far more extreme case of a struggling to run on the switch. So what these games were just dropping down 10 frames it's maybe running at 720 runner and 28 or something like that it's hard to see that pushing away from games and considering where we started with with Game Boy in all that kind of stuff with games hardly even having looking like what they're trying to be the fact that these games are making it to the console with zero graphical down like gameplay downgrades. Yeah, I think that it sells itself there

Mike Macdermid 38:36

it does. And the portable thing is obviously a huge thing. And for a lot of people that are playing the switch and a lot of people listen to this podcast the switch is the only way they're going to play games. And I don't think you should be put off by seeing these reviews of people who are comparing it because we don't need to compare it to other systems because we're not we're not comparing it to other systems will try and look at them all on their own right because otherwise it's not fair competition. You can't compare a switch game against the PC That's you know 20 times the price because obviously graphically the PC is going to be better it's been like that since the day of PCs becoming gaming machines so anyway run over next up little town hero is out now I've seen a few people playing this any interested in this I look it looks actually I've got to say it looks better than I thought it was gonna hmm

Anton Winters 39:19

now no yeah yeah it kind of came out and you know being the team behind it and hearing the storeys of like that director Game Freak saying like this is their priority. I was kind of expecting it to count get to this point and be like, Oh wow, it's actually a surprisingly a game and or like expansive, great experience but from what I'm gathering it seems to be a very fun game but it's only games that look warm reception. Yeah, and I'm here compliments to its combat system.

Mike Macdermid 39:54

Yeah, someone said that actually the Combat Systems really good.

Al Struthers 39:57

I mean, it might be a slight but maybe one of these games. She wasn't very popular at launch but with time word spreads builds following it might be a slow learner but at the moment just nothing and then the the trailers a gameplay cnet's really hooked me made me go I want I tend to agree to be honest as much as I think it's you know looks better than I expected it to that's because I'm looking for it but I would if we weren't in the podcast, I wouldn't even looked at it.

Anton Winters 40:19

Yeah. Yeah, I think that the thing interesting thing about this as considering their other proper a pokemon pokemon you're buying into that world when you buy the game, you could attach any game gameplay style to Pokemon and you could sell it because people are buying into that world obviously you need make sure so quality, but people are attached the world and those characters were what's interest of a little town hero is the selling point as that combat accounts and all that kind of stuff. And the thing that seemingly, I'm noticing is turning people off is say, kind of more generic setting and storey of it all.

Mike Macdermid 40:56

Yeah, yeah. It's not about the character development that that you've had yet. Unlike the Pokemon world yeah

Al Struthers 41:01

actually that's pretty good word for the game just generic. That's a great word for and

Mike Macdermid 41:06

I'll tell you something else that I think will be a slow burner but hopefully in terms of body fat is ring fit adventure and it's out now the first game is the first the first game is going to use the notification features is the first time we got the notification feature in the switch. Do we get the little flashing blue light that's actually in the switch but nobody gets to us? Yes, Anton tell Alster all about this

Anton Winters 41:28

Yeah, so run the the home button you've got a lovely ring which has never been used for anything and no it will glow when you get a notification it will vibrate the console and because you know you need keep on top of all of that exercise and yeah, this this seemingly getting fairly positive reception. Similarly to little Tomohiro apparently is quite generic covert comes comes across any more. parity camp south south tower killed matter and considering it scale for people who wouldn't pick up an RPG Maybe all the time I think it's a little bit more appropriate there and but yeah it apparently is actually fairly good and just kind of tricking your brain into yeah you know you may be on your 100 small of the day but you need to jump over that bit and I suppose

Mike Macdermid 42:14

it's supposed to be quite a good actual fitness to like people are actually saying you know what I see it's actually quite it's actually doing the job.

Al Struthers 42:23

Yeah, actually I handle that everyone won't get this game yeah, I mean I was jumping on a trampoline around for about three minutes I got stitch I need to switch to fix my step.

Mike Macdermid 42:35

Step so bad the stitch pro fit Yeah, I have to look at I have to look more at the I'm going to go and watch some gameplay actually know that people are playing it because I haven't really thought it's one that is on definitely on my radar, but I haven't got into it. You know, looking at it yet, but yeah, and I'm intrigued.

Al Struthers 42:52

what I'm wondering is have you got something else to follow on behind it because of limited play time longevity will be fairly short. Yeah, so they need to bring somebody in pretty soon so once again

Anton Winters 43:05

I have to completely agree with y'all sir it's we're looking at 7999 for the sale so that's 40 pounds for the accessory camera take they're going to have to what one just for justifying the cost accessory have some more titles but if you're somebody that who's legit using this for exercise your health, you would hope to have something that will bring you come back every couple months and if you get people hooked to the exercise aspect of it, that could be a solid stream of revenue for future titles.

Mike Macdermid 43:35

I think that's a no brainer and I'm I would be shocked I would eat my hat in time if I if that doesn't happen. You're on fire today, my friend. But speaking of heightened time, we are getting the near kusa Metro DLC it's coming to the switch Has anyone seen a hat and time the the sort of the look of the of the game so far. I have to say it Gives me vibes of like a more modern Mario 64

Anton Winters 44:04

yeah it looks really solid yes it's great stuff a lot of heart and soul behind it and you know we as an everyday we get a fourth person platform. I'm trying to use an office Oh, yeah cuz

Mike Macdermid 44:15

I thought it was I thought it was I but I'm I didn't I stopped short of seeing it out because I'm not sure is that is the truth, but it looks great. I totally agree with you, Anton. I think it's got that kind of vibe of you know,

Unknown Speaker 44:33

it is it came out two days ago. Yeah, I think I thought it was exciting.

Mike Macdermid 44:37

Yeah, and it looks really good. And I have to say that from what I've heard about hot and time, soul is the right word. It's got a real kind of depth to it that you don't necessarily realise at first and platform is or a genre that you know there's a risk of them dying out in in, you know, not having new ideas coming in. And this is great because it's a new idea. It's got new characters. It looks absolutely fantastic. It has That old school you can see what I'm

Al Struthers 45:01

very nostalgic. I mean, I'm sold already just by looking at the thing.

Mike Macdermid 45:05

Yeah, exactly. And it's got the kind of village Lucas YH five, little town hero would have done better to go down this route in terms of their art style.

Al Struthers 45:14

In 6040

Mike Macdermid 45:15

Yeah, it looks really cool but the metro DLC is coming the game as we just find out is out. Now so you can go get go and check it out. know something that Anton had a shot of last week on YouTube was super monkey ball. And the banana Blitz HD version is going to have Sonic in it. Now there's a demo on the Japanese store, Anton.

Anton Winters 45:34

Yeah, and it's a it's surprisingly got more content and I personally could ever get to you've got, I think for life and they let you just say go as far as you can, which is a not very far my case. But you know, it's very fun, graphically stunning. And yeah, it looks like a fun title. Actually, I was killed, humbly surprised.

Mike Macdermid 45:54

Yeah, I must admit I do like the super monkey ball games. So I probably will check this Excuse me May I know when it's full price, but certainly when it comes down to it

Anton Winters 46:05

and favour to it from looking at the original we version I recall it being a fairly beefy game content wise, but definitely I think this is a 20 pound sale title physically maybe a little bit more efficiently.

Mike Macdermid 46:19

I would agree. I would agree. Very quick couple of announcements then we'll move on to some rumours. So we're group we mentioned that as well. We're getting a physical edition Aster said this 29th of October but it's going to include the same track strategy, manual map and stickers all for 2999. I do love when you have the one additions are limited edition of just ordered Anton for 1499 was a great deal. Route letter, not that one route letter, the anime visual novel, which that they want edition and it comes with some extras. And it's the visual novels you remember we mentioned it because it has live action people in it as well. So you can do a version with people in it rather than just animation.

Anton Winters 46:58

Oh wow. That's what we're doing. Thanks.

Mike Macdermid 47:00

So that was on bass.com. And it was down from 4999 to 1499. I got it for plus posters think it came to at 17. But But yeah, occasionally on bass.com you'll see your spot the odd deal, they tend to sell out pretty quickly and haven't had any problems with delivery from the media. Well, if you're not told me about this before, I've never heard of this. Yeah, I'll handle how I will. I'll maybe tweet about it.

Al Struthers 47:25

Give give more consumer advice is good.

Mike Macdermid 47:27

Actually, I'll give you a really quick tip. If you are looking for cheap switch physical games and store deals. Get yourself to hot Uk deals.com set up a notification for switch and for Nintendo. And every time there's a switch deal, you get a little red icon in the corner telling you there's been an update, click on that and you'll get the Deal of the Day and the only downside is the impact on your wallet. Everything else is fantastic because that's why you see all the deals and you'll suddenly see and also you get a gauge as to whether it's a good deal because people foot as a hot deal or a cool deal. So it starts going over 100 degrees you know, it's probably quite a good deal and that's when you have to watch your wallet.

Al Struthers 48:08

So you are very nice a little consumer advice from Mike Yeah,

Mike Macdermid 48:10

there we are moving on then the sky are to ski I can never remember how to pronounce the this game but it said it's number four. And it's got a demo now.

Anton Winters 48:19

Yeah, so this is like again another long running RPG. I think you can get the first game and the first game of the franchise so Klay of content coming your way on switch. Yeah,

Mike Macdermid 48:30

that's another one to check out. And then very quickly, in news you can know by a game game QG icons and I am so down for this made by Sadie's side SSADS i don't know i don't care. It's Game Cube. Joy icons. They look they look cool. I was there.

Al Struthers 48:49

I was no i'm gonna i'm not gonna pour water cold water on this but I was never a big fan of the game controller I think was weakest control Nintendo's made if it was a snares controller would

Mike Macdermid 48:57

you be in Oh Anton St. Anton. Sorry. Jump in cut telling

Anton Winters 49:02

people there's love people love that control.

Al Struthers 49:05

I know they do. I know it's a little lower there but in my opinion probably the weakest I know a lot of people hate Nancy's two for one and I think it's one of the best so I just like I just like being trading

Mike Macdermid 49:13

Yeah, that's fair enough. Well the good thing about this is the icons so you know they're going to play like Joe icon, but they've got that kind of look and feel I think by the look at that it's got the kind of feel of the Game Cube sort of in the sticks. For example,

Al Struthers 49:27

what I'm intrigued by she's inside with this little USB port.

Mike Macdermid 49:30

Oh, yeah. Charging roll joking.

Al Struthers 49:32

joking. No. So does that mean you can charge them separately or you have to charge them separately rather than talking them to charge them some?

Anton Winters 49:40

Taylor's this you have to charge them separately and choose them not being officially licenced. Okay? Okay have to do that work around but it's a real shame because I outside of them that they look fairly quality. They're 5999 so the be on the high end of the market, but we felt that like officially licence stamp and we have to make a lot of compromises which I don't know about yourselves. Drake's the product yeah

Mike Macdermid 50:08

to the price range for me and with that not be integrated and just think of it the hassle of the were to run out and then you got to explore joy count joy coins with you on you know, whatever. It just does too much possible for me. Yeah, but nice looking product and we hope to see more from them. You never know where they might might be an upgraded version in the future. Right, let's move on then. Slightly late. But that's just the way we roll sometimes. And it's It's time now for this week's rumours. So first up, then, foetal frame on the switch. It looks like we have a chance of getting foetal frame on the switch just for those that don't know Anton, what's foetal frame and why is this a good thing?

Anton Winters 50:50

Yeah, so feel free him as an iconic and kill horror GRG Horror from Camp 2000 and free ish and countless others. known by the title Project Zero and which believes that fail we used over here at the concept of it as your account and haunted places. But the way you take don't care ghosts and spirits is by using a camera so you can only look for the camera and you only have so much battery life on the camera and the kale franchise Wendy ended up going up to five entries with the fifth one being on the we're at sadly dead flop quite a lot on the VU, but so did a lot of other titles. So it would be account returned to like a new account grand return because the less popular title would have been on the way. Yeah, and but they are quality titles. And you know, it's been a while since we've seen them and I'm trying to think when we haven't had too many serious Japanese horror games in the sweat like in the last couple years so it would be quite new.

Mike Macdermid 51:52

We had them was a big one on the DS or the 3ds or the couple of big ones, but there was one I can remember playing and then the The room I think that might have been Japanese horror i think but there are some great titles in that era and before that but this could be definitely one I think they'd be a lot of interest in it so yeah I'm intrigued to see if we do get that but it does look like you know the kind of said it would be a tonne of fun to play with the console in the handheld mode and moving all around you and it would work if camera is the is the theme that makes complete sense as well. So yeah, right next up Nvidia Shield TV pro have announced has been announced with similar prices as the previous one but featuring a new tagro x one plus that's up to 25% faster than previous shields and switch and the switch x one processor.

Al Struthers 52:40

Personally I don't care about Ulster County on I do care. This is probably going to be a processor in the switch.

Mike Macdermid 52:46

Okay, that was gonna be the next thing was I'm guessing. I think that's probably a potential.

Al Struthers 52:53

Yeah, I mean, assuming this roughly the same architecture, which I'm guessing it is because we're using it from one shields to the next all run and work the same way. Same processes and the switch switch is the next one Tiger this will probably be the next one plus Tiger in the pool this could be very good news or 25% faster or more powerful is better way of putting it through

Anton Winters 53:10

switch. Yeah definitely you know this makes as a business move for Nintendo it there's no just makes so much sense because I think I speak for a lot of switch fans that if there was a switch for all i would buy it and the fact that Nintendo could pull that off with very little cost to themselves and to their overall product like they're not having to come out and say that yet the new switch cross free 30 think this could seem like a really sensible move and I think this really lane says gang a new switch in the future

Al Struthers 53:44

correct me if I'm wrong but am I did I not remember from the new six months ago someone that in China maybe was the distributing tender games on the NVIDIA Shield? Yeah, I remember you talking about that. Sorry. Yeah, so that doesn't make a whole bundle isn't

Mike Macdermid 53:59

I think For me if the improvement is is big enough that it is going to run things that maybe can't be run at the moment and

Al Struthers 54:10

they also might be 720 10 at

Mike Macdermid 54:11

yeah I think that would be a huge there's definitely no doubt that that would be a big selling point and I think as long as the price you're right i think if it's going to be cheap enough that they don't have to bump the price up Anton to sort of you know 350 400 pounds I definitely would be I think now I would be a pro day one purchase probably you know, because I feel like I put enough time into the switch to justify it and I think a lot of switch players have found that there has been a lot of cancels previously where you know, I haven't put the time in to justify PlayStation I didn't justify getting a pro because I wasn't playing enough but with the switch I do, so I could

Anton Winters 54:45

justify it.

Al Struthers 54:46

I've kind of been converted, but I suspect I'll be Sony soon. They're going one. I won't I can't justify it. At one point. I can't justify it. That's probably what I'll be doing. What about you, Anton?

Anton Winters 54:56

Yeah, and as as you know, I'm I've always kept being that round. The idea of having a new switch Pro. I would just hope that it would be more than just a spectrum. I feel like not incense. It's very hard to sell to people who maybe are not so tech savvy. Yeah. And so I would imagine it would be other upgrades alongside that but similar I think websites have upgraded looking at what the The main difference between handheld and normal mode on the switch is the fact that the clock speeds are only I believe it's like 1000 megahertz down to 800 megahertz. So that's obviously less than a 20. Like, that's enough of a difference where that extra 25% could get like TV quality down on the handheld switch. We're very exciting.

Mike Macdermid 55:44

Yeah, well, we'll watch the space and I only reason I don't really care is that I just, I don't just don't get excited about the technical thing until I see something real

Al Struthers 55:53

well, that's a benefit of having the three of us on the podcast because I can be all geeky about this stuff and you can just not care and Anton us knows every

Mike Macdermid 55:59

now Exactly. I can both speculate will Anton's like fools No, I'm just kidding now except we've, we were going to get some more Academy which share this game is one I see on sale all the time. And I know it's an absolute classic and it and our style is stunning. So more great.

Anton Winters 56:19

Yeah, it's so gorgeous. And you know, it's been a game that I feel like every three or so years when there's a new console like Yep, we're bringing it to the VO free sexy. And now obviously we've had on switch. And it makes total sense and especially it seems like the game is really hard on the element so having one that's may be built for more regular consoles seems like it would make sense. Yeah,

Unknown Speaker 56:43

yeah, that's

Mike Macdermid 56:44

definitely good news. I haven't played in my brothers but have you played it? Oh, comic. No, no, it's been on my watch list for a while Me too. Me too. Next up, we have more speculation about cola Juarez Gunslinger, which let's face it at this stage. I think it's coming to the switch, but the new One is tech land. I've sent press postcards featuring a cowboy playing switch

Unknown Speaker 57:05

loves I mean, it's kinda

Unknown Speaker 57:06

like you know, how much more of a hint do we need?

Anton Winters 57:10

Yeah, like they may as well I just want them to just drop the trailer for so we can see how it runs like at this point there's nothing really filling it it's it's like Grand Theft Auto just sending people like rocks are sending people like a sheet of paper with the number six on it. Everybody would just pursue it as and I would just want to see it. I play it. Games please.

Mike Macdermid 57:32

I think I would I would be very keen on qualifiers gunslinger. I love the first colour Suarez game and never played gunslinger. So bring it to the switch, please. And thank you League of Legends, the developer behind league of legends are the developers. There's been a new job listing for staff with experience with one or more of the following platforms. And those includes several different platforms including windows and Android and Xbox One and ps4 and Nintendo Switch. So that has basically meant that people and I think that the Liga legends wild rift which was recently announced is coming to the switch.

Anton Winters 58:04

Yeah so they've recently just like came out and announced a bunch of new different spin off products and one of these was world ref which seems to be a part of the main game in the franchise how're coming to consoles and quotation marks and so I think right now who knows if it'll be in sync or linked up but we look to be getting some League of Legends action come at the switch and it's not the full game which Am I imagine some people will be upset at but it's legal actions on less than maybe you know, I don't know about yourself but which was prefer having I kill more optimised console version of the Big League of Legends game or having them as two two separate entries? Honestly, I don't I've having never played League of Legends. It's not something that I I can really say without having done a bit more research to be perfectly played an MMO RPG this little letters in a very long time.

Mike Macdermid 58:58

I think it's great if I can get one of the I know we've got a couple already but we got to get this one on the switch because such a big one

Al Struthers 59:03

was a huge honour. A lot of people have a lot of love for that game. Yeah, well you know if they were going to bring one to the switch as geeky as it sounds, you bring Star Trek.

Mike Macdermid 59:12

Star Trek. That's the one for me.

Al Struthers 59:14

I think you've got a lifetime pass on I'm pretty sure about like you did.

Mike Macdermid 59:19

Had it not been for the fight I didn't have anything particularly to run on at the time I would have

Al Struthers 59:23

been there beaming down to the planets with me

Mike Macdermid 59:25

if it was on the switch, though, to get me started. And but yes, interesting news. If you are legal League of Legends fun. Right then that is it. Just very briefly, I watched the Best Worst video on YouTube worst video about the Nintendo Switch and the title was, what happens if you try to run a Wii U disc game on the Nintendo Switch? So you can plug in through the like the USB thing and all that so right well guess what happens?

Al Struthers 59:53

Nothing. Exactly.

Mike Macdermid 59:57

It's a two minute video.

Anton Winters 1:00:00

million views

Mike Macdermid 1:00:00

and it wasn't this good and he goes he goes right there is a spinning Oh as you can see oh you can see nothing's changed on the switch let's try plugging it into the the doc yet spin in there it's spinning on my removal hard drive,

Al Struthers 1:00:12

man we know is not work we need to make a whole series of videos what happens Have you tried to offer a cup of tea to intend to switch? We're doing this

Mike Macdermid 1:00:19

literally is the funniest two minutes and it's not meant to be funny. I think he's being deadly serious. He's trying to run it but it's like well what did you learn to be

Al Struthers 1:00:26

serious offering cup of tea to the switch? That's what happens what happens if we're trying to get Mike's cat to play the switch?

Mike Macdermid 1:00:32

probably try to eat it no Micah that's what happens when I start clicking on clickbait titles.

Unknown Speaker 1:00:37

So there we are.

Unknown Speaker 1:00:39

You got got it. We

Mike Macdermid 1:00:42

got right let's move on then to this week's co Where's

Anton Winters 1:00:47

Yes, so if you're not familiar with the quiz, go back to 50 episodes. We probably explained it at some point. Are us ready for some games? Let's do it. Yeah. All right take So this first game was a game for least for the Zika Mega Drive, and it is kind of a surreal game with a parody of comics at

Mike Macdermid 1:01:09

comics zone.

Anton Winters 1:01:11

Sadly not it but good choice. I love that I totally got a good game.

Al Struthers 1:01:15

I'm just looking blank I have

Unknown Speaker 1:01:16

no idea. No, Comic Con

Mike Macdermid 1:01:19

Did you say comics and earth?

Anton Winters 1:01:22

Yes. Okay can you play us two characters who are kept the selling point the game two gentlemen are you've got it Yeah,

Mike Macdermid 1:01:32

that was fast. I said I knew I had two gentlemen Earl as the backup to comics on when you mentioned comics.

Al Struthers 1:01:39

Know the name two gentlemen are all I have no idea what the game is? None whatsoever. There's one

Mike Macdermid 1:01:43

on the switch is

Anton Winters 1:01:46

a tool. Yes, indeed.

Mike Macdermid 1:01:48

And I think it's good as a fan service game to two gentlemen are all fans is from what

Al Struthers 1:01:52

why? going to open my browser and Google it and I

Mike Macdermid 1:01:55

honestly don't think the screen screens will give away very much at all on Twitter. jamming on the switch.

Unknown Speaker 1:02:01

Oh, jamming early my typing is

Mike Macdermid 1:02:03

early to jam.

Al Struthers 1:02:05

Oh, I have seen this

Mike Macdermid 1:02:08

little wacky, very wacky game. But anyway, so yes, I'm the one you me.

Anton Winters 1:02:14

Alrighty. The second game was an action adventure game for the PlayStation. Actually scratch that, actually the adventure game developed by core design and released in 1996
