Hello and welcome to episode number 42 of the Nintendo Switch UK podcast. It's lovely to be back. I'm Mike.

Unknown Speaker 0:21

I'm LM Anton,

Mike Macdermid 0:22

and we are here for what is our next weekly instalment of all the latest switch news and what we've been playing and what's coming up and rumours and maybe even a quiz at the end. Before we do that, a few places that people can check out the podcast Alistair where we go

Al Struthers 0:36

willy nilly probably just me yes on podcast at NSUKP code at UK if you want a good old fashioned email. Yes,

Mike Macdermid 0:42

you've also got NSUKP coda UK which Anton kindly put together for us and it is it's a work of art is an anti LY Thank you. Okay. And we've also got Twitter Anton as well

Anton Winters 0:55

as indeed we're on Twitter, Facebook, email, YouTube, all of the popular posts site saw earlier find us. Thank you very much. And we love reviews. Yeah, the apple podcasters have been parse far too. KMZ. Yeah,

Mike Macdermid 1:09

you've been great. We've had lots and lots of reviews on there. And if you do have a moment and you enjoy the podcast, please do leave us a review. I think the best place is still the apple podcast we have looked around, but it seems like there is the place to review. So if you can, that would be lovely. Thank you very much. Now, lots to talk about this week, as always, but before we do that, let's just quickly check in with what everyone's been playing Anton, what have you been up to this week?

Anton Winters 1:33

Recently, I've just realised Oh, wow, my PC can actually play video games. So I've been experiment and playing some PC games. But all the games I have been playing are coming to switch soon. All right,

Mike Macdermid 1:44

well, we want to hear about these. So what have you been playing? Kurt?

Anton Winters 1:48

One of the main ones this week has been the ultra world. And I am astounded. It feels like the game but first I always wanted to make it just feels Like the next evolution of that genre and for me Even I'm not even going in there and killing people I'm just sneaking by and just completing the quest camp trying to pay it fairly passively and just the writing is so good and right at the beginning of the game at gives you like a serious moral dilemma and that also that says the count count bread and butter of Obsidian Entertainment is having this like more with labels but right the beginning of the game it had like one puts you in one situation I remember just sitting there and be like, yeah, I can do site quest for another couple hours. Who cares? Wow. It's a fantastic tale and I think that may be a game I pick up twice because it's really impressed me so far. I mean, that's good news because we're both very excited about that Alistair and yeah,

Mike Macdermid 2:50

we are the two worlds is one that I am absolutely buzzing for. There's not many D one games that I'm fairly sure that I'm going to buy and I know that there's always the risk with switch port because we've seen this before with like Assassin's Creed and such, where it's maybe not been the best port, but I'm still so excited that I think it'll be a day one purchase for me. And there's not many interesting. Yeah. Here's the question though. Anton, are you going to finish the game on PC? Are you going to know weight and gold right away for the switch? Because the PC experience is quite different in that it is obviously it's going to be the highest quality or certainly higher quality compared to the switch. It's going to be probably optimise very well for their frame rate will be really good, I assume. So try and run a Pentium three. Well, yeah. 386

Anton Winters 3:39

Yeah, I'm still very much on the fence there and close. It's not the kind of game that I feel like I need to run it a bazillion frames per second at the highest resolution. But the same time I've kind of put in a good solid amount of hours that I I could put elsewhere and as well as IMSR Imagine once it gets to sweat, you'll be a bit pricey.

Al Struthers 4:02

So let me ask you, it doesn't feel like a game you can pick up and play on the go.

Anton Winters 4:07

I feel like possibly Yeah, it's a lot of the the site quests are fairly short and even within of the beggar quest. So far, it's been very like the left we many objectives to the objective are fairly bite size because unlike Fallout, or skier em, or any big open world game has not actually one big open world. Yeah, you have all the little planets. So nothing's ever too far away isn't like you have to you get one thing. It's like, yeah, go travel for five hours and then do one thing.

Mike Macdermid 4:40

Yeah, it's one of the things that I've heard about it, although it's it's sort of semi open world in a way because you put into different levels and different worlds as you go through it. So when you actually know what some of them are actually quite small, so you don't actually have to spend all that time going, you know, for miles and for me, actually, that's kind of appealing. I know for some people that will be negative, but for me, I kind of Like that,

Al Struthers 5:00

I'd love to give a shot. This is gonna sound like a really weird thing to say, but almost looks too good to play on the go. And I can't really I guess what I mean, but it looks like it should be a big 70 inch TV. Yeah, rather than a small switch screen but I might be proved wrong when I pick it up look and go Wow, this is

Mike Macdermid 5:15

great. It was perfect. I feel like that was certainly there certain games I want to play on the big screen and it's more epic. Yeah. And you feel like it's more of an experience of sitting down and playing it and then others are play handheld but I actually think I think

Al Struthers 5:29

that's what Zelda did so beautifully. It disassociated art. It worked well, in the base game. It was epic, but it worked brilliantly small. Yeah, it's just so refined. So well drawn and detailed. Yeah, it just,

Mike Macdermid 5:41

we're gonna lose some of that in this is know that we're going to lose some of that in the switch, we're probably going to see some blur and some of the distance, you know, stuff is probably not gonna be the same. The frame rate won't be as good as PC. But I, I think the half of our problem is that we're just from a generation where you would play an epic game, sitting down in the living room type thing. So I think it's actually more of our issue than anything I think you can have just as epic and experience handheld it's just that we have chosen not to possibly

Al Struthers 6:07

well you might be right the one

Anton Winters 6:09

thing that's given me a lot of hope for it as I was kind of expecting when we did get it we're going to get like account what your free sale poor whereas you can tell the downgrades but the thing I've been actually quite prices switching between the graphics option in this last game I struggled to tell the difference between medium and very high it seems fairly arbitrary like that. The camp details that you're missing especially on the top like the tablet size screen, I'm optimistic that we may have a salt pour in our hands. Oh, good. Well, I'll be great and that would definitely make up my mind for the reviews that are earlier good. Was that I'm guessing that's the main thing you've been playing this weekend Anton. Yeah, I'm I've also played Vera breaker which we will discuss slightly later in the podcast. Okay, got some interesting yet. We'll save that man. A surprising title Lonely Mountain still. Hell if you recall that game from a couple episodes back at was the political countdown whoa don't help motivate game easy for you to

Mike Macdermid 7:11

remember that Yeah, I do remember that and I didn't have to kind of very quickly went over it so what what were your impressions

Anton Winters 7:18

I won't lie didn't expect much of it and surprisingly really polished tile and very relaxing. It's been my go to play it for 10 minutes before you go to bed game and it's absolutely gorgeous and that school that really lovely balance of scale to difficulty and I think that one's good but a real sleeper hit for a lot of people a very easy to pick up and surprisingly that thing so anyway, excellent about myself.

Unknown Speaker 7:48

I quite like the idea of playing quite

Mike Macdermid 7:50

like the idea of Anton playing the old game that's coming to switch soon on another platform. It kind of gives us a bit of a heads up because we are essentially playing switch most of the time also what have you been playing See,

Al Struthers 8:00

I've played a few games this week. Unlike my normal routine, I've played a bit more Pokemon. I've got a bit further on. As you do. Yeah, I played a bit more Mario Kart because why would need my account and I tried the Sonic and Mario Olympics demo.

Anton Winters 8:14

Oh, yeah. Did you try the 1964 version? I didn't. Can I go a bit bored. I wanted to buy the game and up at the demo don't want to buy the game anymore.

Mike Macdermid 8:24

I get we have time for i think i think a lot of it has to do with the titles. I think there's a lot of games in there that I would have preferred to have tried. The mini games, certainly the mini games in the demo or really, really, really fast. Literally a minute and you're done. And I thought that's just I can't get my teeth into each event was just too short to brief. I wish you tried this 1964 one because it's more fun. And I don't know. It's just it's just retro. I'm not sure fun is the right word, but it's retro. I think I'm going to reserve judgement. I know what you're talking about. I can hear where you're coming from. But I think we need to get a bit more of a range of all the sports that really make a judgement because there aren't There is a single player mode as well which EX pretty reasonable that are other kind of Co Op ways you can you know you can play in the fight Scott coach Co Op as well as good and what

Al Struthers 9:09

else I struggle with that is a really stupid thing I feel like I was being Burke and couldn't get this to work was actually getting the controller store so playing it was a half so two of us in there with to Jones could we figure out how to get the motion stuff to work? Should we all we could do is go back to the button so you know you've got like single controller dual controller or buttons. We have three options for the different events. We have got buttons because nothing would pair properly or work right and was couldn't I think

Mike Macdermid 9:33

I did buttons as well to be fair, so yeah,

Al Struthers 9:35

I think I was being a bug. But if anyone wants to correct me if I'm wrong, please do. Another game I played this week was bitter, bro. Hello.

Mike Macdermid 9:43

Oh, yeah, so this is like that. Free, right?

Al Struthers 9:48

Yeah, it was fine. I guess I would describe it. It was good. Fun played for 10 minutes. 15 minutes. All right. Yeah, we distinguish fancy beating stuff up until we meet each other up and some computer characters and basically got our bottoms out The Jewish excellent, don't forget, don't give up.

Mike Macdermid 10:02

Well, I have had a fairly busy week. So I've played some stains game I'm getting very close to a fact I've actually experienced no three endings with stains gate because what I'm doing which is a visual novel thing, which I'm learning because visual novels are quite new for me, but I'm really enjoying them. And stains gate particularly is a is recognised, great storey. But what I'm doing is having several safe files, so I've got my main one. And then I'm like, Okay, I know I'm going which way I'm going to go, but I'm going to go the other branch first. And just because I know there's gonna be an ending here. So I've gone through three endings, all of which were slightly unsatisfactory in sense of I'm glad it wasn't my finale because I'd have been annoyed. But interesting to see where the storey would have gone if I'd done certain things check UU professional

Al Struthers 10:45

gamer figured Oh,

Mike Macdermid 10:48

yeah, no, but it's a long time since I've played any of anything like that. And I'm really enjoying it and I've actually I bought it later I picked up another visual novel I forget which one off the top my head again. It was horrible. One edition pack cheap and I thought so I'm actually quite enjoying the visual novel genre. It's just something that sometimes when it's late at night, you can press the button you have to think about it and just enjoy the storey. So that's been good.

Al Struthers 11:09

Speaking of spooky Has anyone played Luigi mentioned three yet?

Mike Macdermid 11:12

No. I bought I picked up in Tesco the other week as I mentioned and then had to put it back there were sold out so

Al Struthers 11:18

yeah, well, I went round three for Tesco stores last night looking for Luigi as mentioned

Unknown Speaker 11:22

had it all sold out. Yeah, or I want

Mike Macdermid 11:25

to go play that game. Well, I'm going to finish Ghostbusters first never had a friends thing. So that's why I have not been so busy on the switch this week. But on the plus side with my friends thing is that his job? He has a great job. His job is as a demonstrator for the Oculus devices. So the Oculus Rift and then the Oculus quest which is the new all in one device virtual reality device either

Al Struthers 11:43

we were not sponsored book. Oh, yes, I heard you say that we have

Mike Macdermid 11:47

obviously nothing to do them. I just want to share like

Unknown Speaker 11:49

like his lyrical

Mike Macdermid 11:50

share this experience I have to see if I had lots of money and I could buy another gaming device that wasn't the switch because I think the storey does everything I really want other than maybe FIFA. I would like a PlayStation four FIFA,

Al Struthers 12:04

we don't need that. But that's it.

Mike Macdermid 12:07

The only other thing that I would buy would be an Oculus quest because my goodness, what an experience and it's, it's also the experience of watching other people's first experience of it. Seeing people just being blown away. In a you really are blown away. It's so hot. I can't even really describe what it's like until you've had a go. And the new Oculus quest is all in one thing. So you don't need to plug it into a PC you don't need to. It's all good. its own thing. Its standalone. It's very, very good. It's easy to wear. It's not you feel like you're immersed in the world. And also is going to have a good tonight. So

Anton Winters 12:39

I don't I

Al Struthers 12:40

don't normally want to wrap up the podcast quickly. But I want to wrap up quickly. I want to go try it out. Although you were showing me videos of people earlier on, and there's no way of getting around it. When you do VR. You look like a park. Yeah,

Mike Macdermid 12:52

you just do. But the funny thing about that is you don't care. I was playing with a couple of friends that are quite reserved and don't normally kind of react very much too much. And they were kind of like oh I can't believe this art and dance and a bow and jump in and all sorts and they didn't want to go meet Darth Vader that's why I want to go well yes so this is one of the games is Star Wars game and Wow It is incredible it's a fantastic game so

Al Struthers 13:15

so basically you're saying it's a good companion to switch on each other in any way shape or form they're

Mike Macdermid 13:20

not they're very very different this these are these things that have run over 400 pounds at the moment so they're not cheap but they are amazing. And I think if you've got the money and you want an experience is like no other You can also bring in non gamers I think that's a big thing. It does a similar thing to switch in that sense and then it does does bring in non gamers in a very different way. But what an amazing experience so very much recommend if you haven't tried one get a chance to try one was particularly the Oculus or the high for the mood that the ps4 one I guess would be pretty good too. So anyway, there we are. So Anton, you need to come up at some point when he's when he's here and an experience there. The Oculus quest

Anton Winters 13:55

ever ready got one I've been in that world for the Could we well, but yes, similar It's fantastic. I actually, I did not know this I hold

Mike Macdermid 14:04

a second language. Quiet. Just just dropping that in there. I did vaguely remember that you said that, but I didn't realise so tell me what have you got? What is it the one you've got?

Anton Winters 14:16

Yeah, I have the the original rests. I've got a feel free 60 set up and and yeah, I use it for I'll play the occasional game on it. But mainly I use it for exercising and I've got a mod for beat saver that counts calories and it burns about like 50% more calories and killing tennis so hard that you maybe do 30 minutes to an hour of that a day. You're basically just dancing to some music with nobody looking at you. So it's a and you don't have to go outside. It's it's tonnes of fun.

Mike Macdermid 14:49

Fantastic. Have you ever have you tried watching any Netflix in it with any friends?

Anton Winters 14:53

I haven't tried to like the group cinema stuff. I have used it for YouTube because sometimes it's fun to just have a Hundred inch screen and just watch some YouTube in it. But yeah. Oh, American Truck Simulator. That's

Mike Macdermid 15:05

all I bet you That's amazing.

Anton Winters 15:08

But nonetheless, shall we shuffle on into the announcements this week,

Mike Macdermid 15:13

Iraqi will probably shoot as much as I like to have a whole Oculus quest podcast. I don't feel very qualified after playing it three times to do to do that. So let's move on to this week's news. So first of all, we've got an announcement, a few announcements for you. First, we'll go through the announcements first, as we usually do, and then on to some other bits and pieces. And then eventually we'll get to that, that rumours that rumour and before that so some announcements Nintendo have announced and released a brand new caught comedy paramedic game. That's a mouthful for 17 pounds 99 I've seen this around Anton it's called the stretchers

Anton Winters 15:49

indeed. And who saw this game coming? I'm surprised it didn't make more fanfare but it's

Al Struthers 15:54

bizarre Yeah, first on you but I got an email from the middle of the week saying hey, you game Oh

Mike Macdermid 15:59

yeah. I've only just seen it in passing I haven't had a chance to look at other than thinking that looks kind of fun also what's your impressions been of it? It looks hilarious I'm not as you played it yet I just like say the email has dropped to my inbox like two days ago.

Al Struthers 16:11

Yeah, it's I think it's 18 pounds 70 1999 Yeah, this is basically a co op and from what I can gather you're driving ambulance around you couldn't get past people in distress onto your stretcher and I think one person towards the front where Maurice controls the back and chaos ensues it looks hilarious

Mike Macdermid 16:27

and Tom was your thoughts

Anton Winters 16:28

Yeah, you know it really appealed to my over wall and over watch over Coots just going to follow and break some friendships and show each other because we're you're doing the wrong thing. Go this way no go the other way. Sounds like my actually my life so yeah, I'm I'm really excited to run off my friendships and I'm just surprised there there's not been more hype about that said it looks fairly polished as a tale. Yeah, it's cool. It's really how about yourself Mike, do you see yourself given a goal because yet relate your golf game.

Mike Macdermid 17:01

Yeah. So I can I finished over for overcooked one and two. And co-op's really great, especially if you've got someone in the host that maybe plays video games but not as much as you do so you know, or there's someone nearby a friend that likes a bit of court now and then this looks looks really good. I'm going to wait and see what kind of people are saying after a week or two. But yeah, definitely interested in this as the stretchers and it's 1799 and just kind of came out of nowhere, really, so go and check it out. Right now actually. Next up sim fabric se announced flipper mechanic. It's a pinball repair simulator releasing in 2020. Now that

Anton Winters 17:40

you see the trailer for it,

Mike Macdermid 17:41

is it literally you go on fixing pinball machine? Yeah, it looks

Al Struthers 17:44

it almost looks photorealistic and you're a slightly gruff bloke who goes and picks up a pinball machine from a bar. It's broken. 200 scratch your head. It's your bum. Fix it a little bit, take it back gets paid, move on.

Unknown Speaker 18:00

Every game Anton

Mike Macdermid 18:01

spends his time right and i truck to nowhere. So I mean, this is Anton.

Anton Winters 18:06

Yeah, see the thing is extraordinary about this as we've all seen the simulator games and you know, they look a little bit you know, PS to ask, this game looks like the next battlefield like, it has no right looking this premium as house or say is like, I mean it's beautiful. It really is beautiful. That surprises me. And from the sounds of it, it's actually you just have like, baby basically like a garage with a enough room with a couple pinball machines. You have to manage like clients, you have to pay for parts, you have to test them out to make sure they're working properly. You have to manage your time. So if you're really a fan of management sense, and you want some client like pinnacle of switch graphics, it looks like

Mike Macdermid 18:49

yeah, visually This is that it reminds me a bit of GT five visually actually the way the visuals are just coming from I kind of wrote this off I just saw the trailer about two minutes ago and I went, Oh, this is kind of kind of cool. It's a very slick trailer. So go and check it out well worth having a look at. It sounds ridiculous. But I like management games. So I probably would like this actually. So look out for that releasing 2020 Next up retaliate games. I don't know how you say that name. I never have enough white up close enough. There really. So this I'm really interested in this. I just know. It's called football game. It's a port and it's a point and click thriller where you don't play football, not even American football. It's not even soccer. It's none of those things. It's a bizarre point and click but I'm kind of intrigued Anton.

Anton Winters 19:38

Yeah, you know, it's given me like 1980 slasher fights for whatever reason, I think it's Yeah, you're the buff. Joel, can you wander off into the wilderness, kind of and you're driving around, I don't even know like, it's such a departure from what you would think this game would be about.

Mike Macdermid 19:57

Yeah, I think it's quite clever in some ways to give it a title that completely misleads you. And I think that's that's fine because yeah, point and click element is great and I love I love pointing clicks anyway, I mean I have a lot and have to play through a lot and it's a very sort of 90s kind of vibe, but then with the kind of vibe that they're going for anyway, it kind of fits.

Al Struthers 20:17

Yeah, and an amazing soundtrack. The soundtrack to it's I think it's a ward winning actually the soundtrack to it basically sounds like every 90 song, but as generic as you could possibly get it with no actual words, or because I'm very very cleverly done. And the advert for the trailer for it comes up saying Tommy loves football. That's right. Yeah, Tommy loves his mom told me he loves his girlfriend

Anton Winters 20:36

is like what is going on?

Mike Macdermid 20:39

I think it's quite cheap as well. I can't remember this fibre is I thought it was about Fiverr Yeah, yeah, yeah. So so something to check out if you're looking for a point and click thriller. If you're finished with thimble we'd park in the likes. Next up final form games have announced James town or James time are we is it James same plus Jim same Plus he is. So this is a top down for player space shooter. It's kind of December the 12th in about a month's time anyone down for some space shooting

Anton Winters 21:05

I hadn't we look at the trailer I am from the trailer alone outside of the four player co op i didn't see too much and differentiating this tale from other ones but I try to think I don't think I've ever played a four player takedown space sure before so that could be some manicures if it's done right i think

Al Struthers 21:26

yeah, I mean against can kick it in for a long time. But the first one came out in 2011. So this is a game plus all the DLC and I think a couple of extra levels coaches were the plus but comes from Yeah, and it was it means been well reviewed. Yes. It's kind of one of these games that kind of Beloved, but that most people haven't really heard of. Yeah, it looks way too frantic for me. Yeah, this is your average for the average knockdown shooter. Some nice cool big bosses and nice enough graphics but just frantic and probably is quite good fun for people but I suspect you and I Mike we certainly want to kill each other and everyone else in the room. Possibly.

Mike Macdermid 21:56

Yeah, we dialogue. Yeah. Well, it's coming out on December 12. So if you are interested then go and check that out next up Ellen pixels I want to say have announced our legacy which is a brand new RPG is getting funded on Kickstarter and it's asking for Well, we're going to talk about another game is asking for a lot more later on. This one is asking for 20,179 pounds which I think is a it's a livable goal or respectable goal, I think. How's it getting on at the moment, Anton,

Anton Winters 22:23

and I don't have the exact numbers off the top of my head. I only had a week glance when they first launched that but from that initial launch, it looked to be going quite promising only being a couple hours enter and it seems to be the sequel to another game the franchise I think we've maybe done some web comics and it seems have a really dedicated fan base behind that.

Mike Macdermid 22:44

Yeah. Also, it's got some info on the fingers.

Al Struthers 22:47

Yeah, it's just over 11,000 as we record is currently what time we got. We are at seven o'clock on Sunday night. So yeah, just over 11 grand so it's already halfway

Anton Winters 22:56

halfway there which is good and what kind of RPG are we looking Cannot then Anton. From what I'm gathering it's a sight from my memory it's a sight scrolling kill GRPG a little bit Arif bone day with no 16 bit graphics. I think this one's gonna be a desired taste but from the looks of it and looking at the original title it does seem to have a cult following behind it so hopefully this game has helped the one to bring up to the next level and get some more people into it because

Al Struthers 23:26

Yeah, looks quite good. So I'm going to say I mean it looks quite well done you know, I can see where they're going. And you said it reminded you of Shovel Knight

Mike Macdermid 23:33

does it That's right. Yes, it did. Yeah, very much so it's got Shovel Knight he kinda look

Anton Winters 23:37

just a little bit more cartoony, I guess. Yeah,

Al Struthers 23:40

it looks very clever look at you got to really think about what you're doing. I suspect you're going to die quite a lot and that

Mike Macdermid 23:45

that's my thing was pretty much every size scroll and game I've ever played. But check it out. Anyway, it is on Kickstarter right now and it's just over halfway to where it needs to be. Next up, Blizzard has no idea when Overwatch two will be released and the vice president Jeff Cox. says I've got a feeling we'll be talking about Overwatch to again next year blitzscaling if that helps at whens bliss con, we're gonna have to check that even though a while away. Yeah,

Anton Winters 24:08

it'll be a one one year from last week's podcast so basically a year and some, though even not even be releasing it off again. Wow. So November next year Geez.

Mike Macdermid 24:19

Yeah and in some ways I'm not bothered by that because I think the fact that I mean certainly people on other platforms probably will be but I think from a switch perspective, we've just got Overwatch. I wouldn't be that happy if I just bought Overwatch and Overwatch two was coming in three months time I would have probably a bit kind of later. It's a bit annoying, you know?

Al Struthers 24:36

Yeah. But I'm still getting irked that we're so far behind the rest of them. Do you think I am irked by it because we should be we should be edging towards parity by no means reversible. Just switch The Contender is a major contender

Mike Macdermid 24:48

Yeah. Overwatch was released you know is that there before you know the switch was a thing so I guess

Al Struthers 24:54

yeah, they're always they've been developing Overwatch to for what maybe a year maybe two years the shoot but other I think they should have been closer with the switch than a year away

Mike Macdermid 25:04

but I think that they don't know any the release dates yet do they? Anton do they haven't given

Anton Winters 25:08

Yeah, from the sounds of it they have SIK so if it's ready when it's ready and they're for all the next year there's no confirmation we would even be getting the game next year and it's it's very I am curious to see because it the game that get leaked a good couple months ago, so I wonder if it was the case of Yeah, this games actually two three years away and they just announced that to announce it almost.

Al Struthers 25:32

Yeah. So I picked up the Roman stick Oh, they're saying you weren't talking about in the switch? Were you just talking about it full stop being released? Yeah, full stop. Yeah, gotcha. Right. And I guess I back down.

Mike Macdermid 25:41

Yeah, yeah. But But the interesting with this one, as far as I'm aware, and it might be worth we check this but I was reading on Twitter people talking about how and I think this is the case that someone leaked. The Overwatch two is coming. So I don't think they were actually ready to announce Overwatch two and then eventually basically had to because the storey was out there anyway. And that would explain why the Vice President is kind of in a bit kind of like Well, I don't know, because it feels like maybe they've been almost there their hands been forced.

Al Struthers 26:11

Yeah, I think that's just PR, I wouldn't if a lead comes along, companies aren't forced to then talk about it, they just go and then they talk about when they want to. Yeah,

Mike Macdermid 26:18

that's true. But I do wonder if maybe there's been a bit maybe there's even internal discussions of some people aren't happy about it being an associate and some are, you know, it could be something like that, you know, we just, maybe either way,

Al Struthers 26:30

just, basically I said, enjoy the current one,

Mike Macdermid 26:33

I'd also if it's going to be 10% better than give us another six months if you need it, just to make it better. You know, you know, take the time you need basically next up Android tan and study I supports the supports a Nintendo Switch pro controller, so if you got pro controller, but you also want to play on one of those platforms and you can so a little bit of an update for you there a new limited run style game, site game theory. So this is another one of these kind of little drawn on super rare games, they've announced physical release of bridge constructor portal on the 13th of November with pricing set at 39 $99 which is roundabout where it expected for the limited run type games bridge construction portal Did you you played this one on one avenue

Anton Winters 27:15

ND that was a fairly solid tale and an old fairness if you've got another device like an iPad or something like that it far more suits a touchscreen, and it's a lot cheaper and those platforms, but nonetheless and I have played a bridge constructor game on switch and there are playable and and it was a fairly fun game. And I think if you've played any bridge building still game before, adds a lot of elements. So to count diversifying, so isn't just like you're playing the same game over again. And as well as it's saying the Pura universe has the same sense of humour and it's a fairly fun game All right,

Mike Macdermid 27:51

excellent. Yeah, I mean I does is a title that I was very much considering when it came out because I loved portal based constructor sounds kind of fun. So yeah, that kind of would have worked for Never go around to those so I had that it's a bit it's a bit pricey for me I mean I love some of these limited run type games because they do retain their value but it is probably not on my priority list but

Anton Winters 28:11

especially for a game you can get for five or mobile at sad Yeah, that's a tough pill to swallow. But yeah, how do you feel because we're getting a lot of these lemonade run sale sites like we've got let me run super lemon aids I think as long as super rare

Mike Macdermid 28:25

for me as long as the quality is high in the in the production of them, then I think it's fine because they're always going to find an audience that the satellite very, very quickly and I think the thing about them is they are collectors items in the sense that they don't really lose their value because once you've got a copy the whoever's bought them that they are the ones in existence is not like, you know, they're putting heaps of run out to shops because it's not how they work. So, no, I think it's fine. I think you'll always retain your value with them. So I don't think it's a problem. It's just sometimes The Price Is 40% higher than I would like to pay. That's probably my biggest gripe but then if it wouldn't be very limited, I guess if everyone bought a copy, so

Al Struthers 29:00

Yeah, yeah i mean i don't know how I feel about going to honest I've never bought anything from any limited run

Mike Macdermid 29:05

about Saturday morning RPG from either limited run or

Al Struthers 29:09

i mean i i think i think either through I am glad they exist because I don't really want everything to go digital only. No I don't think that's gonna happen for a while

Anton Winters 29:18

no no well

Al Struthers 29:20

not for a while but I can see going that way and I just don't like it because I feel you don't get value for money. And I like having a physical copy somebody who can sell on Yeah, yeah,

Mike Macdermid 29:28

well there we are at another one to add to your list of companies that are making them game fairly but 13th of November is the date so next few days really squarely next release a jumbo demo for Dragon Quest Builders to which includes hours of gameplay my other half she loved. Dragon Quest Builders the first one finished it. Play hours and hours and hours and hours and hours of gameplay.

Al Struthers 29:50

Can I go back and ask a question or a last item? Alright, cool. sees limited run type games. Have you tried any of them out? cnet's got the same thing? Yeah.

Mike Macdermid 29:58

Do they have the same critical? It's a very good question. I haven't

Al Struthers 30:00

I feel an experiment we need to live and recorded XV paga I think one of us is looking cartridge

Mike Macdermid 30:07

that must be though from the the plan that they send off the game too because it must only be a few places making those specific cartridges. I don't know.

Anton Winters 30:14

What do you think, Anton? from what I gather, I think when it comes to making these titles, you buy the cartridges from Nintendo. And so I think we would all taste the same.

Al Struthers 30:26

Well, we're gonna we're gonna find out next week one of us Mike or me. Actually, we should we should do a viewer of your

Mike Macdermid 30:35

cartridge. Actually then if it's Anton I have to send the game down to

Al Struthers 30:42

go some drunk just kicking correct.

Mike Macdermid 30:44

Let's let's take up on Twitter and see what people say. quite fun. Next up take to have told investors to expect the outer world on the switch sometime before the end of March 20. We've already spoken in fair length about the two worlds. We all know that we're very excited about this. That's Good timing for me It gives me a chance to play one or two other games kind of good time of year I think to release a game to to shame it's not a big sooner because obviously if you've got another platform you're probably play on that

Al Struthers 31:10

yeah refer to my earlier rant about party.

Mike Macdermid 31:12

But if it's going to take a bit longer and it's going to be a better experience, I'm still okay with that even if there is a week for us but

Unknown Speaker 31:20

referred to earlier and

Mike Macdermid 31:23

it's looking for that way Anton is already told us that is that is a really promising love title. Excellent. Five Nights at Freddy's One, two and three are going to switch on the 29th of November for 799 which I think is a good price. 790 $9 I've got here by Mr. Game where's my bundle? I think it's the bundle game. Oh, okay.

Anton Winters 31:45

But you know, they're they're well regarded games. They seem to have a decent amount of content. I think that's acceptable. Yeah,

Mike Macdermid 31:52

no, that's okay. I think I think they're kind of like point and click kind of adventure type titles, aren't they?

Anton Winters 31:58

Yeah, you essentially you set That they secure a room of a restaurant account like your Chucky cheese sell restaurant at the animatronics are alive and you only have so much power so you can only afford to have the lights on so long. You can only afford to have the doors closed so long. And you just have to keep an eye on all the security cameras and make sure you don't get attacked by these big scary monsters that are no

Al Struthers 32:24

yeah, so video of them dancing around the music and it was very creepy. It was

Mike Macdermid 32:28

very, very well done. So look out for that 29th of November and 799 per title, but you'll get one, two and three, they'll be available. So up next the game the Anton how to go of this week that I think the demo from what I remember was available. We talked for this briefly last week. It's hard to break here but some news in the Anton

Anton Winters 32:48

Yes. So if you don't recall very breaker is the new 2d platformer from the developer portal and the developer head can and they were accounts a lot of the manpower behind the Sonic Mania and salt Minneapolis Release. And this is our first original IP. And they were asking for 215,000 pounds. And sadly after going halfway through their their funding time, and they've only made $10,000 that Yeah, only saw half cancel the Kickstarter.

Mike Macdermid 33:18

So they've got some plans to sort of look at this again in a few months time. And the question for me from me, Anton is is that going to be worth it? What was the game like?

Anton Winters 33:26

Oh, yeah, from having a gal, a gander from the storey behind the developers as they were, it sounds like a case of they were allegedly down to their last dollar and that and they just needed to get the Kickstarter up so they had money coming in and day. I think overall, looking at the texts are our page from everything from reward tiers to branding, and the eventual demo is it felt very rushed. And I gave the demo goal. And sadly, it doesn't even it doesn't feel Megatron Quality even like for a game released in 1990 sadly it's it feels very like a last tech demo almost for a game that wasn't released twice a shame I mean so maybe this is the best thing that could have happened and that they haven't got anywhere near the target yet so the hot to kind of go back and relook at it and take a bit more time to work on it. Yeah there it's a shame because Sam there's some elements and the gameplay where I'm like, oh, that could be a lot of fun and but even just in what they showed it It felt quite rough and it's especially coming from the same developers Sonic Mania plus it just it does not feel like even on the same par sadly

Mike Macdermid 34:45

Yeah, yeah. Okay, let's move on then. To sad news. By the way I'm It is a shame What a shame that doesn't get anywhere near that. You know what it should be especially because you know this, as you said, there's some good people behind that as well. So hopefully it comes back stronger. Let's move on to this week's rumours. And this was the point in the podcast where we lost all of Anton's audio, which means we've had to kind of cobble together the gist of what we were talking about in the rumours. So I'll play that for you in just a moment. The quiz Well, I went to know ahead and was absolutely firing on all cylinders. And then Alistair one, the winner takes all question at the end. So technically, he won. But morally, obviously I did. And I'll let you hear what we kind of were talking about minus Anton and minus the quiz

Al Struthers 35:32

normally.

Mike Macdermid 35:34

Right then first in the rumours, we've got an ex game and former senior editor Imran Khan has hinted that the 3ds Fire Emblem remake that we discussed last week might actually come to the switch, which would be a bit of good news, I would say

Al Struthers 35:48

would be really good news.

Mike Macdermid 35:50

Yeah. Okay. Well watch the space on that one then. And the other rumour that we wanted to chat but this week was just the switch direct rumours because I think I predicted about three or four episodes ago 20th of November 5pm. That was my good, very specific, very specific introduction and sort of gas. But we have a kind of weird week in terms of there's been a couple of rumours about the potential of a direct

Al Struthers 36:18

Yeah, there's been a few rumours kicking in there's a few things on the internet almost actually suggest we had one this week, which confused all of us until we realised that someone else had got confused and was referring back to the 11th of June. Three direct rather than the sixth of November, which is the American date format seems to confuse the internet.

Mike Macdermid 36:34

Yeah, and I think there's also a there was something to do with smash characters as well. Which one did show up the last few days, but there's not an actual direct and certainly not one that you know, we've been kind of the one that we're all craving. Definitely not that,

Al Struthers 36:51

you know, but the internet is a buzz. There's a buzz with the rumours. I think there's one unfortunate mom which is getting a bit of traction, suggesting there's going to be a direct maybe on the 13th which is what this week yeah.

Unknown Speaker 37:00

So we were do one I

Mike Macdermid 37:02

would you I still think I've I think it'll be November I think it'll be within the next two weeks I still think the 20th for me, but I mean we usually find out officially a day or two before anyway, so I wouldn't be surprised if we're not if we're not sitting on a Wednesday evening recording a special Elise Anton I would think in the next couple of weeks I'll be very surprised

Al Struthers 37:20

Yeah, I mean, we're not terribly far away from the holiday period and they've not really released or announced any specific big game we lose Legion lunch the big game Yeah, but it's not it's not what is not a Christmas game. No, no, and I can't really think what they've got out there that will be their Christmas game that they have. Does that mean links weightings been around for a while? So a direct thing or by the way, here's a big game. wouldn't really surprise me this to me

Mike Macdermid 37:46

that On that note, if we are not back for a direct, special midweek then we'll see you next week. Have a lovely week. Goodbye Jerry and on behalf of Anton Ottawa
