Hello, and thank you for downloading Episode Number 35 of the Nintendo Switch. UK podcast. We are back once again and we have a full quarter what we're doing because we don't have Emily and James but we have myself we have Alistair Hello. Hello, Dan Anton is here. Hello Anton. I'm
Anton Winters 0:30
bad. Yes, it's a it's it's weird listening to the podcast. I'm like, Oh, this is two people. This is odd. But I know it's great to be back. And we've got tonnes of fun stuff to tell this week.
Al Struthers 0:41
I know you mean I always find it very weird to me here the specials that you guys do that. It's just two people. It alters the dynamic of it.
Mike Macdermid 0:48
Yeah, it's it's a different thing, isn't it? Especially when you've got the lack of the quiz at the end? I think that's quite a fun way to family and let listen to the quiz. You know, when I when I would do here to back it's always quite funny to hear how how badly do how intense it gets
Al Struthers 1:01
to us. So I don't how did we do last week?
Anton Winters 1:04
I did. Five, four. Yeah, not a single good.
Mike Macdermid 1:09
And
Anton Winters 1:12
I think the last time I wasn't on I was there's use for dissing the sponge ball game what she said heresy. heresy I say but state today, I know nothing to complain about. But well, if you've been playing over the last couple weeks,
Mike Macdermid 1:26
so I have been playing, I played the whole of the Neil carb demo, which is the game that was shown off at the not the last Monday's but the one before I believe. I have a vague recollection I
Unknown Speaker 1:39
salon went. Yeah. And I was quite
Mike Macdermid 1:41
interested in it. And basically what it is I actually watched an interview with one of the developers and the whole idea of it is that they have, you're basically you're an Uber driver from the future. And you're, you're based in this dystopian kind of future and you go to move to this big city. This is not spoiling anything, it's explained right, the star and you are the last human driver left everyone else every other cab is from a company that are robot drivers are they're not robot drivers. They're just automated. And it's it there's a storey thread that runs through it with your friend that you've got to stay with. But every time you pick up a new passenger, there's a whole storey within that passenger as well. And you wear this kind of mood reflecting colour thing or our wrists thing that basically changes colour depending on how you're feeling. And the whole idea is you got to keep your star rating really high because they were explaining that Uber, if you drop below 4.8, then you're considered you're not achieving your target. And you risk being banned from Uber as a driver. 4.5. I mean, that is intense. So this is you get you get for on this. So if you drop on to forbidden, I've really enjoyed I really enjoyed the demo. And I think I'm probably going to buy it.
Al Struthers 2:49
So how is all narrative based? Are you is it driving what it what is it
Mike Macdermid 2:52
no driving so that the driving the when you're driving, you see driving, you see the passenger get in the backseat, and then the view changes and you chat to that person. And you'll see your character driving and turning when it says the term and you've got a mobile phone. So picking up looks like an Uber app where they go what's what's your next ride rail, click on that one. And you can decide which person you want to pick up next. And you can see their rating and what they're what they've said in their little text thing. So you have a choice in that. And it's mostly narrative, but it's quite, there's quite a lot of choice in it. And you can, there's a lot of different threads, I think that it can go down. So I think for that I mean, I love narrative based games if the guy good storey and for me, I felt that this would have a lot of depth to it. So I'm yeah, I'm definitely gonna look at it. I'm intrigued by it. And I really enjoyed the demo.
Anton Winters 3:39
I didn't see the demo pop up, but I need to give it a call. And I feel like I've been longing for a taxi game since we haven't had a crazy taxi. And who knows hell.
Mike Macdermid 3:49
I mean, I would love as we said a million times hit and run was basically Crazy Taxi, I guess for the Simpsons. But our crazy taxi, one of those games would be great. But this is very different. It is very much think of it more. Do you feel like you're the Uber driver, I must admit, I mean, it's just not an Uber driver. There's a different name for obviously, but essentially, that's what she's doing. And you do feel like that because you do feel the pressure. You've got to manage your money as well. So yeah, you know, you have to when you run out of electricity, it's obviously it's the future and and surely, yeah. So you have to then decide you go and stop and recharge, do you want to refill fully? Have you got enough money for for your food and all the rest of it, you just moved this big city. So there's a bit of management in there as well. So this fear, but a definite,
Al Struthers 4:26
I just think the last time I put any, the closest thing I think to a tax game was Grand Theft Auto five, where there were taxes and then you could pretend to drive a taxi or in a taxi. Yeah,
Mike Macdermid 4:35
I played a bit of that. And I would like it if GTA five would come to the switch as well. But that's a whole other storey. So yeah, I've got to say, if you like narrative games with choice, I think give give it a go try the demo. You know, you've nothing to lose.
Al Struthers 4:49
Yeah, whereas I've just been playing Zelda again. And to be fair, I've not even played much Zelda because slightly late to the party. I spent the whole week watching Chernobyl, which if you've not seen it, it's very, very good. Yeah. But yeah, it has somewhat curtailed my switching
Mike Macdermid 5:02
this week. I also played Steins Gate was what I was also going to say. So I'm still 1112 hours into that.
Al Struthers 5:08
Yeah, before we recorded Mike and I had a conversation. Mike has superhuman abilities to do an awful lot within the space of a day. I don't quite know how to play.
Unknown Speaker 5:17
or sleep. Apparently,
Mike Macdermid 5:18
you're sleeping is fine. You know, I'm fine.
Unknown Speaker 5:22
I mean, he's twitching. But
Mike Macdermid 5:24
until What have you been playing this week? Oh, I played
Anton Winters 5:27
a little bit of the Super Nintendo online and mainly playing ghouls and ghosts. And by playing I mean, just replaying the same couple levels that I can get through. Because it's brutally hard. Yes. Yeah. I'm like trying to not abuse it too much. But I think it's a necessity with that game. And I've also played cluster truck FN.
Mike Macdermid 5:52
I've got to say I bought it on the switch. And I I was a little disappointed with it box. Ice may because I'm not very good, Anton, to be honest.
Anton Winters 6:04
Yeah, I found that interesting. It's a game I picked up a good couple months ago. And I tried to get into an assessment I've been struggling with. But I found it very interesting as I've played it on the Xbox One. And on there, it's like I've got the Elite controller the extra long stack so they're really sensitive. So going to the switch. I'm like the six are just a little bit too small for really like pixel perfect jumping for the sky and landing on a small trunk. Which, if you if you're not familiar with the game, just imagine, I guess like any 1990s action movie where they had CGI, but they didn't know how gravity worked and CGI, so everything just went Phil anime. That's basically the game. Yeah. It's fun, though. I feel like if you look a pro controller, very good. But for me, I like to save playing on the TV for those more big cinematic games
Mike Macdermid 6:58
on the same and I played at hand, and I think that's maybe where I went wrong with that. Maybe I need to give it a go again, on the big screen you. You've been using the rewind feature. I'll start cuz we've talked about this
Al Struthers 7:07
I have. So I also was playing A Link to the Past. And it's a game that when I played it the first time around when I was back in the snares. It was frustrating and annoying. But actually the rewind function has made the game a really pleasurable experience. I've flown through it. I mean, I have literally boosted through this game faster than I've ever played through Zelda in my life, because I'm not dying. And it's actually it's transformed the experience. I'm loving it.
Mike Macdermid 7:30
Remember, I said on the NES games if you get a chance to try the rewind function use it because those games are so hard. And I think that's the same thing that you're finding that I found that I was actually I'm enjoying this now I am
Al Struthers 7:41
enjoying it so much more. I don't think it's necessarily that I wouldn't call being lazy because I mean you could slow you through but I never really enjoyed slow mo through it. Well, I'm enjoying playing this game and the end the day it should be about enjoyment. So Anton, don't you worry if you want to use that rewind function you use it, buddy.
Anton Winters 7:57
Just I'll just pick the hardest game NC I completely debt with my eyes closed, Cyril there. Yeah.
Mike Macdermid 8:04
Every time you die. Before we move on to this week's news, just a couple of things on our Twitter and Facebook and email. So thanks to Mick who messaged us, actually today. He said What can I say? I'm weak and now also skin. He's bought the Nintendo Switch light. So he's tweeted a picture of it. And I must say I'm I'm intrigued to see how he's getting on with that. We did reply and asked and said look as punishment for spending that money we expect a full review. And he's saying so far so good. So he's had he's had to deal with it. And I it's I know I don't need I don't need a light. I don't need it.
Anton Winters 8:41
But I don't know.
Mike Macdermid 8:41
Part of me is like, well, that'd be nice. That would be nice. I don't need it. And I can't afford it.
Anton Winters 8:46
Yeah, I was in the exact same situation because I saw a deal and I think it was a curious and it was 200 pounds worth links awakening. I'm like that's like 160 pounds. That's like barely the coolest stuff is normal switch. Why haven't broken yet, but I've been so very close. Especially just for the idea of being able to take the switch and just carry in a pocket. Whole Chris. I know. I know. I'm intrigued. Which colour Do you go for?
Mike Macdermid 9:14
He went for the black one. I think so
Al Struthers 9:16
I'll show you. Let me let me see I'm seeing is I'm not in social medias. I have
Mike Macdermid 9:20
this is this this one that's kind of black isn't
Al Struthers 9:22
it looks kind of well, he's like, yeah, light grey. The grey. Cool. Yeah. It looks like a proper
Mike Macdermid 9:28
looks like an adult's light and adults Nintendo.
Al Struthers 9:31
Like do we you as a child, I guess,
Mike Macdermid 9:34
the Wii controller? I'm just a reminder as well. We are on Twitter. It's remind me on what is it on Twitter,
Anton Winters 9:42
and issue key podcasts on Twitter, Facebook, and now we've got a lowly YouTube. So you can check us out there at the links on the website. Rather than just you typing in the string of URLs that you should have. It is the website as the uw.com nsukp.co.uk. And you can get links to all the stuff. And we're also on Google podcast now. So for us Android tried fellows, and there's no an easier way to hopefully listen to us. Well
Al Struthers 10:12
done. I did not even know we were on there yet.
Anton Winters 10:14
So excellent work. You've been a busy boy. Yeah, keep them busy. That's where I was going all the week, I'll say in the labs of NSUKP headquarters. Speaking of HQ, we are thinking about potentially being in the same room next week, all three of us
Al Struthers 10:33
will be but not the normal to because I'm going to be in Edinburgh, so I'm gonna go ahead, Anton.
Mike Macdermid 10:37
Yeah, no, I'm saying I'm just trying to work out my my logistics. But yes, the idea being that if we can all get in the same room, you know, we're thinking about might do something so that you know, just something a little bit different. So keep an eye on that will probably put something up on twitter at some point, and let you know what we're going to do. But next episode, we might all be in the same room, we should be a first which we really good fun. And as well as that you can get us on Apple podcasts. We're on email. It's podcast@nsukp.com. uk. And we've got another five star rating, not a review, but a rating. Just I think we had a couple more I think we're up to 25 five stars, which is fantastic. Thank you so much. Awesome. Thank you very much everybody. And if you leave us a review even better, but just even given us that rating, it really does help people just spot us amongst the crowds. The throngs of Nintendo podcasts of which there are more now than there were before but we still think ours has that something a little bit different to get us it's got us that's what it is. On that note let's move on to this week some news. So first up, we're going to talk about Mario and Sonic at the Olympics took you 2020 at Sega have unveiled the dream events, Anton Yeah,
Anton Winters 11:49
like I don't know if she's all remember this like in the first one where had that cool, crazy running race. And just seems like they've taken that idea and went crazy. We've caught shooting one which almost like a mini first person, person sure of the mile and Sonic characters. We've got a racing mom with these cows like f0 looking tracks, and some cry. And they look they're little bit eccentric. They're a little bit over the top. But more content. They've really been going all out. I kind of was them not having announced this earlier. And I was getting there. The Caliph Tokyo 1964. And I was almost thinking that was a replacement. But no, this is turning out to be quite a full package.
Mike Macdermid 12:28
Yeah. And and it's it's doing the thing that I think a lot of games at the moment on the switch because we're getting so many of them has to do and that's getting the attention of people. And I think I certainly are now considering it. And I think you're the same I'm exactly the same. I've never considered one of these games before. But it's just Luke so much fun. So we've got dreams shooting dream karate, as you said dream racing to that, that looks fantastic that the 16 816 bit as hr 16 bit of the what are they calling it?
Anton Winters 12:56
I think they're calling it the Tokyo name 64.
Mike Macdermid 13:01
So that's like a kilobyte. If that if it was genuine. Yeah, I think but basically, it's got a retro Luke to in it. They look amazing. Those games. It reminds me of like international track and field back in the day. Since decathlon and all that kind of stuff. It's got that kind of vibe about it. So that's fantastic. Plus the games I saw I saw some football in there as well. Yeah, really cool. Which actually even I wanted to play that. Yeah, Yeah, it does. It looks really really good. So that's exciting. Do we have a date yet? It's quite is it so
Anton Winters 13:35
it does have the date, but it's not off the the tip of my tongue. But you know, it's it's coming together? Well like To be honest, I think if they package up that 1964 self dropped on the store for 15 quid, I could see a lot of people just buying that on top of the original game. It looks like a really solid package all around. And by
Mike Macdermid 13:52
the way, if you want an arcadey football game that's getting pretty good reviews at the moment is just come out in the switch this week is called go lat. So I know we mentioned it before. And I said I was worried about how it was going to be reviewed because it's quite a few games on the switch football games that look like it'll be fun and actually aren't that great. But this one seems to be getting pretty good reviews very arcadey is that 90s football arcade vibe to it? And I think there's a discount as well. The moment still on the east East shop. If you go on there and have a look, double check that but certainly it's getting reasonable reviews. It's called go lattes or go and watch the trailer for it as well as on the shop. Definitely.
Al Struthers 14:27
But if you want to know about it, sonic mario is having the first of November. So when I got that,
Anton Winters 14:31
but I thought is usually
Mike Macdermid 14:32
usually the before 2020 years, usually the way they do it
Al Struthers 14:36
normally, and I will buy it after the event was
Mike Macdermid 14:39
on a year's time. Yeah,
Al Struthers 14:40
I'm that guy. I'm gonna do that.
Mike Macdermid 14:42
Well, we'll see. It depends what the reviews are, if it's getting solid nines. Okay, well, fine. All right. Next up, this is very, very interesting and could have could have a big impact on the way things go in the future for digital digital gaming. So basically, Valve are being forced to open a used games store. Now, explain exactly what this means, Anton.
Anton Winters 15:08
Yes. So care of the Cal pro consumer health Wang of the French government made a proposal suggesting that Valve should like consumer should have the right to sell their products, whether they be digital or physical. And as forced or made a contract that would have essentially forced to make an option or a store for consumers to sell their Steam games and to other customers using the steam platform. So carefully can almost like an E shop where you could sell your own games and other people could buy them from you. Yeah, at whatever price you set. And it's been approved by the High Court. So that's purely Finn FM hover Valve has done an appeal on it. And the reason we're bringing this up as if this was to go for it. And one within can't France themselves, this would kind of have to become a standard which all digital distribution platforms would be need to be held to. So Nintendo would maybe have to start offering an Xbox PlayStation and who knows even people like care, Apple selling movies, and could be subject to this, and similarly with other government governments, and this would become a reference to which alert Casey's would be informed about. And quite often, especially in Europe account. Digital legislation quite often has a domino effect on its neighbouring countries. So this could be quite could really shuffle up their cap digital land school it is but it has the potential to change things quite drastically. Alastair? What's your thoughts on it buying? secondhand the games are selling you're selling your used digital games do does that appeal?
Al Struthers 16:51
Absolutely, frankly, is the only reason why I've always hesitated to buy digital games. I prefer physical because you can resell it. So if if this was the way that always digital storeys when I will be over the moon, but it might suddenly see my backfire. But what I'm doing is what happened in Belgium where all these developers had lucre game just pulled all the games and said, Oh, five minutes over Belgium. transmit valve, my girlfriend also gives a France your loss. It's by
Mike Macdermid 17:16
now I think this is the problem is it's going to be quite difficult. In in my head, I find it really hard to imagine how this is all going to be policed and done properly. I guess, I guess, escalation here if
Al Struthers 17:30
I should know more about how European courts work. But if France is ultimate court said, yes, this this has to happen. I presume there must be some weakening and appeal to an European level court. I'm guessing if Europe as a whole made made that sweeping legislation. I think that's when it might become more important to these video gaming developers and platforms like Nintendo like that. There's always the question
Mike Macdermid 17:55
at the moment whether we would be involved in that
Al Struthers 17:58
as as a whole thing, the whole of you was enforced to bring in digital games. That's that's a big market.
Mike Macdermid 18:04
I think I think for me, it we are in a bit of a transition at the moment with with with a lot of things. And I think, with buying and selling secondhand goods. I mean, one of the things that we we still have a lot of is physical games in a novices the question about plastic and there's a question, but there's a lot around that about buying and selling physical games in 2019, I would have imagined 15 years ago that we wouldn't have been still selling physical games at this point. So where we are in another 15 years as a as a whole other question, but I would not be surprised to see this become a thing one way or another, whether it's this is the first catalyst for or not, I'm not sure. But it sounds a bit like it's going to go one way or the other, either, they're going to fight it and then then I'll be stopped for another five years, or actually, this is opening the door, we need to make big changes, because they're gonna have to make changes if that if that becomes a law thing.
Al Struthers 18:57
Well, if I was a developer, the model I would probably put forward is OK, so I'm not gonna let you sell peer to peer. But here by our game will invite back from you force a 50% value. Yeah, we sell next people 75%. So we're still getting our cut. Yeah, but people are still willing to take us back into direct to the developer is a good idea, the distributor, that's the model, I would probably suggest they're going to go down. So they're least making their own cut. Because the reason the video games industry previously had a problem with it was because company like Game Stop or game or all these other third party, people were making money off the back of them, and they were losing it. Yeah, their control that they're making that cut, it is beneficial to them, I'll be putting up and make as much as they make now. So everybody a new game.
Mike Macdermid 19:38
Yeah, but there's a lot of people that don't buy new games. And then it's my only other problem on tomorrow other what he, Anton is, it might ruin the whole idea of a digital sale. So we might see that we've got full price games. And then the only way you get them cheaper is when they come on to the second hand market 50% which might not be immediately because the sale thing at the moment, we talked about the switch tax lot. And the seals on the switch have got better and better. And I think this is about the first time where I can see you know, actually, there's some really good deals to be had on the switch. And that would be my worry.
Al Struthers 20:11
They might just change settles. Sorry, I don't want to go Yeah,
Anton Winters 20:14
I know it's it's quite interesting because they're there are platforms that do stuff similar except there is GT games, watch if you have a code for a piece of software you can sell it on there and kill that market see the flute for five six years that must be and I find that interesting healthy idea as doing it and belt to see more basically just making more games eligible to the same camp system that what CD CD keys and Calif GTA games already do. And because it free radically now we would get rare TYFN keys because then we're not just having it be like something is attached counts for actually getting a limited amount of keys within an ecosystem and supply and demand comes back into where if you have a game that was maybe released and like take it off the fish the account steam, let's take a drive for San Francisco. Yeah, those rare games that if you didn't buy a 10, you may have missed out on you can know shelf get your hands on?
Mike Macdermid 21:20
Yeah, yeah, there's there's an interesting comparison I can think of and that's in music software. So you can buy music software online from something for CQ base, or like a plugin or VST instrument or whatever. And you can still, in many cases, sell those to another person. And you basically sell them and when you sell them secondhand, you give them the codes, which then activates on their systems. And what will might start to see is switch downloads having an activation code, rather than just being a straightforward download should be complicated slightly, then the activation code can be the thing that you're selling, which would make a lot of sense. That could be the alternative way to go.
Al Struthers 21:58
Yeah, I mean, it's the same idea music code. It makes me it took it a lot simpler. Yeah, I'd say that's probably what you're doing. I am talking I haven't sold anything away in 10 years.
Mike Macdermid 22:07
So it was an active activation code then it could be a token now for all I know
Al Struthers 22:11
Yeah. But going back to your point about the eastern sales what I've noticed them doing a lot in the store is actually games being on sale before there are when the least Yeah, yeah. And that's possibly where your seals my goal is like buy it first and you get it cheap. Yeah, and that would kick start that whole ecosystem just people buying cheap and people buying full price and tumbled drain I'm still gonna buy physical
Unknown Speaker 22:31
Gosh, like your Georgia games.
Mike Macdermid 22:35
So yeah, okay, well watch this space but it is interesting valve being forced to open a used games store and we'll see what comes of that. Next up we did mention this just before we started the news this week and that's the Nintendo Switch light is out now. We know that a couple of listeners have picked one up already. It seems to be getting pretty reasonable reviews so far on
Anton Winters 22:57
yes looking like a really lovely piece can know these there hasn't been any clear flows or pen gates or any forms of gates where people are just screaming and battery life seemed to be pulling out to Nintendo's claims and it seems like if you don't care about plugging into TV this may be the perfect switch for you and has said the reviews sweet your attention your point of view is at all Alistair No. I mean no I'd say no but
Al Struthers 23:29
slightly flippin I still have no intention of buying one Bristol is probably quite a good bit of kit for market. Yeah, I'm not a target market.
Mike Macdermid 23:35
I think it's great. I think they look look a lot of fun. I like them. I like to look at them. I don't I don't really have any need for one and only reason to be buying it is sheer greed and I can't afford it right now. Quite frankly, I'd rather buy you know 20 games than buying you light there's probably no and even then there's no point we do not accept my backlog of games as much more than that. So
Al Struthers 23:56
exactly what about you Anton?
Anton Winters 24:00
I love the idea of just having a portable like one it could fit in my pocket. Yeah, and but at the end of the day if it was like Nintendo The only just slim version and then the quality but knowing that they're the kind of company that might release a new Nintendo Switch in two years time that slightly more powerful just going far small version something I can't justify an omen satellite. Yeah, I want
Mike Macdermid 24:26
with you. I'm with you on that. And next up Legend of Zelda link. So awakening, it's out and I know you put some money aside for this, but have you bought it?
Al Struthers 24:36
I haven't yet. But this because I'm playing Zelda. And all who buys Alex and playing? You know, you get it right? Yeah. My neighbours bought it. Oh, he's been raving about it.
Mike Macdermid 24:44
Yeah, last couple of days. He's not done anything except please. It looks fantastic. I've got to say that. Even I had no real thought of buying it particularly although I think it looks great. Not for any reason. Again, just simply I've got too many games, but I looked at it and thought I just look good.
Al Struthers 24:59
You know what I like most about it. they've kept everything the mid a special game so original had a lot of references to other Nintendo games at the time. Those references have also been ported over it is just it's got old cool little bits and they've not messed with it. Anyway. So make a little bit of
Mike Macdermid 25:12
a look so so good, Anton. It does.
Anton Winters 25:16
Yeah, it's a very interesting one. For me. It's I think it looks gorgeous. And I know people love it. I'm a little bit hesitant to pay 40 pounds for what seems to be built off a Gameboy game. And it looks so good. And especially when I've been seen the limited edition and the bundles with the switch Slayer
Al Struthers 25:36
said Well, you see 1490 repeat 54 from Argos. It's not cheap. I wouldn't pay 50 quid for x i thought about this long and hard. I'm not paying 50 quid for it. I know when it's 25 maybe 30 I'll pay for a beer in the meantime I might just swap that money. I think Pokemon is dead
Mike Macdermid 25:54
I think if it was if when if it ever came I've ever gotten an opportunity to buy it for 2025 on a physical I would probably go for it but yeah, I'm with you as well but it does look great and I think that as you said Anton that package with the switch late I mean there's going to be some very very lucky people out there that have got picked up that package it looks great and what a great combo because it's it'll be great handheld I think handheld for me and look good and big screen but handhelds gonna look amazing.
Anton Winters 26:19
Yeah, cuz from what I've been hearing about the people who have picked up the switch it's just it's kind of like when you picked up like a Gameboy maker or something the screens condensed that little bit more so the graphics end up looking much nicer concerts far less pixels and I'm just looking at I'm like it's that game could look any better Yeah, I wouldn't believe it is just gorgeous Sam but similar 25 pounds maybe? Or if the flesh don't they the camp dungeon boulder and I feel like there's a lot potential there but from what I've heard in the reviews a little bit a little bit late on content a couple more proof of concept than anything
Mike Macdermid 26:56
well it's out now so you can go and check it out you might have to pay a bit but I'm sure well worth it for those that are you know completely sold out already but it does look fantastic. Next up Square Enix have announced a physical Asia only Final Fantasy seven and Final Fantasy eight remasters bundle I mean are we going to get any more Final Fantasy because I think we're pretty much like I think there's like every version of everything available although this is Asia only I think it would sell well here the ones on
Anton Winters 27:22
Yeah, I think that like these are two of the most popular Western Final Fantasy games like seven was the game that really was like okay, Final Fantasy can be successful in the western market so it's very surprising to see this bundle not make its way over and say not a square enix and as we're going to go on does it to mention later in the podcast technically doesn't else their games that are even after coming to both regions, they will notice the Asian version earlier than that the count Western releases. But yeah, it's an interesting one will fail fantasy because there are so many different sub franchises and there's a lot of people that will be waiting for their their version of their final fantasy. They don't they don't care about the 20 other ones they want their final fantasy because they're all so different and unique you know, well seven and eight have two very different
Mike Macdermid 28:13
titles so yeah, yeah be an interesting one to see if they bring over here I think that's that I would be pretty keen on on a bundle I must admit our physical bundle of Final Fantasy games so can you imagine me that your life that would take up look Winters games are huge degree No, no, but I mean, that's you know, you get invested in a game you might you might stick with it for that. Next up Epic Games, fortnight and Batman crossover featuring Batman and Catwoman Irma girl
Anton Winters 28:43
urban girl
Mike Macdermid 28:44
kind of almost tempt I mean, I don't you know, I saw they said I went by man. Catwoman fortnite What's going on? Anton?
Anton Winters 28:53
Yeah, so they're kind of similar to what they did with fan us and you're going to be able to count play it I think you're going to be able to play it Batman and Catwoman they've got special eight arms workout get to see all the fine details they've just done an announcement trailer but they seem to really enjoy this this crossover said the fan count they've done two Marvel ones now so it looks like it said DC came up in the chocolate box and at least we get some Batman on switch somewhere
Mike Macdermid 29:21
so do the these limited time only type deals as I they work
Anton Winters 29:25
either they're Catholic event so for everyone at health it will just be like they're in the game they'll soul for instance when they add a finals. And it was like the special one one person in the game will get the super ultimate power up of being famous for at the end the game at cyphers soon it'll be a similar model to help that work previously cool.
Al Struthers 29:47
I've never played for my my life. But now we want to go and play it because Batman Yeah, well to go and download it and
Mike Macdermid 29:51
have it go. Yeah, free. I know. I played it. And I said many times I like fortnite I just don't like the building aspect which is kind of important. But it is it's it's it's fun. You know I can survive that the building for about, you know, a minute. Right then the first three Dragon Quest games are coming to North America. And for the first time on console in Europe on the Nintendo Switch that we mentioned this briefly. Last week, we talked about the Dragon Quest games at one, two and three, which are the NES games. So in the early 90s or late 80s, I should say more likely. Over here. And in America, it was all about Mario and it was all about Zelda. And in Japan Dragon Quest was the thing Anton that people were really wanting to get their hands on
Anton Winters 30:34
yeah and it's interesting to see that analysis how we well back and people are like why are they not bringing it to this the switch? What were they did? Why is it only in Japan you got English subtitles but we're finally getting it and I think the fact that this was such a delayed announcement, I guess maybe a little bit of hope for the fiscal Final Fantasy seven Final Fantasy bundle and similarly for other titles that we don't from Square Enix that don't get immediate release dates. Yeah, yeah, so and if you've not got enough Dragon Quest with their Dragon Quest 10 enough of the devil
Al Struthers 31:13
that was long enough Yeah, definitely. Good demo. I spoke
Mike Macdermid 31:16
nine Legends is confirmed to launch worldwide next month on eighth of October we've talked about this for we're I mean considering grid has just come out and it looks so amazing. Asphalt nine is going to have to persuade us to change our mind on that Alistair
Al Struthers 31:30
it's got a lot of work to do, isn't it? I mean, it's not going to go anywhere. It's a mobile game. Good grid. Yeah, a grid. Yeah, it's amazing.
Mike Macdermid 31:36
Yeah, looks actually saying I watched. I watched I play three of our race and it just looks it looks fantastic. It has
Al Struthers 31:44
your thing. Yeah, they have optimised that game really well. I don't even really well for the switch. It does
Mike Macdermid 31:49
not look like a switch game. And this is what we're seeing more and more of them. We talked about this Anton we back on episode three or something about how when console's get further into their cycle, you start to see what they can actually do when people start to get to grips with it. Yeah, Witcher three and or, yeah, what's your three exactly and I think this is another example of it with grid but asphalt nine. any hope for this one? Anton.
Anton Winters 32:09
I think that there are people who have obviously stopped by the franchise for a very long time and it will be interesting to see how it plays on switch because I the mobile release of that you don't really steer you just like in the vague direction you white go and then account automatically data your account more just switching between rails if you know what I mean. Yeah, so to have this game with Phil controls would be curious. But to give it credit, as like a mobile game that I played, it's been one of the better ones I played in recent years and I never got too far in it to where it got micro transaction, but you could definitely see the framework there. So yeah, its interest I've it's a port. That's all we can say. Well, we'll
Mike Macdermid 32:58
see it's not that long till it comes out. October I'm going to fly through some more of our news items so that we can move on to rumours and then the quiz next up our fall alien horde has been a nice for switch but reviews not fantastic of the release. So far our star it's not been the best review game. But another another decent title potentially could it be? Could it work on the switch? What do you think?
Al Struthers 33:20
I mean, it's if it wasn't great on other consoles and steam. My hopes one switch? Sorry, sorry, what
Mike Macdermid 33:26
does it look like? And what kind of game are we dealing with? Because I don't know much about it. And I confused with Earthbound versus a totally different game altogether. But
Al Struthers 33:35
what about first person shooter shoot big monsters? Right? That's pretty much all you need to know. Do you want to add any more that?
Anton Winters 33:41
Yeah, right. Very, he really wants to be walking death and isn't quite there.
Mike Macdermid 33:48
Okay, okay. Well, it's been a nice for the switch. And maybe they're hoping that because, you know, there aren't as many on the switch that people will go oh, let's give this a go. But the reviews so far fairly makes I'm sure there are people that love it. So tell us if you played it and you know, it's the reviews are wrong? Because it does happen. Sometimes your favourite games are not the ones that have the best reviews.
Al Struthers 34:06
Yeah, I mean, the reviews online for other consoles range from one and a half to three stars. I to 555. At least not 10. Yeah. So I mean, I'm not got high hopes. But you know, it might be awesome. When you get on switch,
Mike Macdermid 34:16
Narcos Rise of the cartels based on the TV show. It's a top down turn based and Eskom style strategy game, which I have seen a bit of the trailer for this is another Netflix one, isn't it?
Anton Winters 34:29
Yeah, what's your scalp? Interesting to see we've got another Netflix game coming. So quick clicks, I know, know, when Amazon came in was the grand tour video game. It was like, Oh, that's here. And that's that's all the games we have. But and the fact this is following up change are things free. And I wonder how many other games that may be caught in the pipelines? And if any of you seen the short haul?
Mike Macdermid 34:51
No, but it's something that I probably would watch. But again, with the so many shows on on the lights on Netflix, Amazon Prime and all these things. It's It's so hard to sort of watch them all, but it looks the show gets well reviewed. And people really love this show. And the I think there'll be some interest in this, you know, just because of that term based thing because there's a there's a big is a big fan base for turn based style games. I think that people will be really, really into this. What about you, Elsa?
Al Struthers 35:23
You had the trailer and it was one of the direct? Yeah, I remember thinking I want to play that. Yeah, the interesting interesting thing is there's already a Narcos right of the cartel game out on other platforms as a third person shooter. Alright, so different viable. A different games, same title, completely different game, and this one, this one looks way more interesting to me than the third person shooter did,
Anton Winters 35:41
huh? Okay. Yeah, definitely, if it's been a while since we've seen one of these so called cell games, like, I remember them, especially on the PSP being really good. At games, you could maybe just play for, like five minutes. It's like you're not having a like, if you're like saying a bus stop or something like that. And you can just like invest in you kept you to keep your eyes open. And it's a nice, passive experience. So I'll be curious to see what the reviews turn out like yeah,
Mike Macdermid 36:06
I've never really got into any games in in that particular genre and style, but I know that a lot of people really rave about them. So I might give us a go cuz I like the premise. I like the idea of the of the game and kind of the Narcos tie in as well.
Al Struthers 36:23
I'm reading a bit deeper actually. It looks like it's top down but it also flies down into third person. Okay, engaging combat if I don't it looks cool. Yeah,
Mike Macdermid 36:32
yeah, I remember thinking that the in the directs that I thought that it looked pretty good. So anyway, next up a game that we all have raved about at one point or another. And if you don't have it on the switch, I suggest you go and get it at some point snap Eclipse, the developers behind sniff Eclipse SSFB games have unveiled tangle tower. This is a murder mystery. It's now an apple arcade, which you'll have got if you've updated to iOS 13 in the last week or so. And it's coming to the 10th of all toolbar. Now normally with an apple tion sort of crossover game I go, but Apple arcade has had a lot of positive reviews this week and on so maybe this especially with being a snippet clips to developers, I've got reasonable hopes for this one.
Anton Winters 37:16
Yes, it's really interesting. And as a mystery mortar game. I don't know if it's anything youse guys are particularly fond of. But for me, it's it's kind of a genre I would just pass up that kind of reminds me of old PC games. You never really grabbed my attention. But this one was filled with really good charm, and the rain seemed solid to him. Even if you guys check out the trailer and they count gives you a real good taste of the characters from as all animate all of the cow. At the conversations. It looks fairly solid Anna. But here's a question for us. After this, let's let's be real this game. I couldn't see it being less and what 10 pounds at at the cheapest? Which, which is pay that when you could get plus? Like let's say I think it's $100 games for 499. on Apple arcade.
Al Struthers 38:10
Very, very good question is what I've been asking myself quite a lot this week, actually. Because I've not tried apple. Okay. Do you think it's a free trial?
Mike Macdermid 38:16
Yes, I think the idea is Apple arcade is it's a 499 a month as you can just play as many games as you like before 99.
Al Struthers 38:24
Yeah. And there's there's hundreds and it's growing really fast. The number of games, they've got it. There's been ramping up this week.
Mike Macdermid 38:29
Yeah, it's a great deal. My biggest issue with Apple arcade comes back to the same issue I face on mobile games forever, which is just there are certain games that work brilliantly on mobile, and there are certain games that don't and for me, I still just love that physical thing of having a handheld.
Al Struthers 38:48
But now with iOS 13, you can pair an Xbox or Playstation controller with your phone, and you basically gotten some mini screen. It's kind of transformative to me, because I'm like an iPad, or an Apple TV, that is going to get less compelling for a lot of people.
Mike Macdermid 39:03
Yeah, oh, no, absolutely. And I would probably be one of those people if I didn't have a switch. But I gotta be honest, and maybe just blindly loyal. But I'll
Al Struthers 39:10
switch. So I'm kind of roughly where I ended up as well. I like
Mike Macdermid 39:14
it's a great idea. I think it's a fantastic idea. It's about time that that happened. Actually, I think that's what it's needed. But for me personally, there's still, there's still something about having a console dedicated to gaming, because remember, as well with your phone and your iPad, you're using it for other stuff, unless you're lucky enough to be able to go and buy an iPad specifically for gaming. And then in the you're looking at the prices, and then an iPod is not cheap for a newer one that's running iOS 13 properly and generally, and then you come back to well as a switch worth doing. But yes, it's a subscription thing. I wasn't sold on but if if something like that came to the switch in the future where you could play certain amount of games for a certain amount of money per month, would would potentially I mean, police station did it years ago with the PS Plus was it PS Plus Anton?
Unknown Speaker 40:00
PlayStation? No. PlayStation? No. Yeah.
Mike Macdermid 40:04
And that was that was reasonable. Maybe a bit ahead of its time in some ways, actually about Xbox do with the game pass? Yeah, the game process. So maybe do you think we'll get something like that on the switch at some point, Anton?
Anton Winters 40:16
I think the closest we could get to I don't see being how protective Nintendo off of their IP. And I wouldn't see them but I could potentially see the Xbox game past because we had the rumours of x club coming to the switch while back. Yeah, maybe something on that vein. And the thing I find really interesting about that counts Apple arcade, as it's going very much for the kill premium ND market and account an area where the switches really dominates and kept looking at large lineup we've got and we've got count as it we've got tangle tower we've caught that exit the dungeon game for Slava we call Ethernet, Sonic racing coming to it. And I fear for a lot of people who already own an iPhone and an iPad, convincing them to maybe pay, let's say star two came to or something like that similar account to title. If they were interested in playing that, would they pay up to 84 switch? Or would they just by like, the game base, which is like joy cons for your iPhone? And do it that way? It could be I think that really fascinating as a competitor to Apple in the indie side of things, not so much soft exclusives.
Mike Macdermid 41:32
I think there's going to be an audience for it. There's no doubt about it. I don't think it's going to take that much away from the core audience of Nintendo fans, because I still think there's something about having it all in one you don't think about it, you pick up and you play. And I think even if you're connecting your icons, even if you're connecting a controller, it's still you're thinking about how you're doing it. It's not the portable solution that the switches in that sense, unless you're playing games don't need it, of course, and then it is but no, I think it's I think cool. I'm interested to see where it develops, but yeah, I'm not sure I'm really not sure. I
Al Struthers 42:06
mean, I reckon the Nintendo safe because I was going to say the main reason most people play Nintendo is for Nintendo games. Because you can't get Zelda you can't get Mario Mario Kart, you can't get any of these things anywhere else. And really, that's why we all buy Nintendo for the games it doesn't really matter what you're playing them on. So those subscription models might be there I still think people will still buy switch to play Nintendo games on
Mike Macdermid 42:26
I think most people will although I did buy my switch because I loved the concept of switch I actually played that many Nintendo games Really? I mean, I put a lot of indies on most of it. Yes was it for me the exact opposite I pretty much only put in 10 games these days to a greater or lesser extent probably be 75% indies and 25% big titles Nintendo titles maybe but by the way, I think you're right i think it probably safe in that sense but it is certainly something that they will keep an eye on and I wouldn't be surprised if Nintendo at some point go hey, we're going to do this subscription based you're not getting all the games but you're going to get these and it's only going to cost you this month I could see that happening I'm just very briefly as well that again the murder mystery thing talking about old murder mysteries Anton it it just in my head popped up or either this memory of playing a Sherlock Holmes game on the Mega CD that I had
Unknown Speaker 43:13
oh
Mike Macdermid 43:14
yeah and it's like that video kind of thing that they did back in the day you know the kind of full motion video and I just looked and sure enough the games are you have a copy of that no it's like 25 quid on on eBay and I was like
Al Struthers 43:29
so much better murder game either 2009 PC game or she wrote
Mike Macdermid 43:33
oh yeah yeah yeah. I mean it's just for the theme tune alone worth it to be perfectly honest. Brothers move on to because we have to fly through these because we are time is moving on quickly today or in the Blind Forest this was the Microsoft exclusive is now got a demo on the switch Have either of you downloaded it
Anton Winters 43:52
at not yet but playing to it's always been a game my fault looks beautiful but I never understand what the gameplay as from the trailer same.
Mike Macdermid 44:00
Yeah, it doesn't look great though. I must admit and it looks really good on a switch so I might download that demo and have a go at Louise mentioned three is going to get paid DLC adding new content to the scare scraper and screen Park multiplayer modes. Excellent. I'm all for DLC for multiplayer. If it's paid, but it's good and there's plenty of content that's fine I don't mind having an option to add more.
Al Struthers 44:23
Yeah, let's see how the game is first I prefer paid DLC wasn't necessary an agent before
Mike Macdermid 44:27
Yeah, I would agree with that. I think that's that's the only thing here but either maybe just presenting things and saying hey, we're going to make sure there's content for this art just keep your money I always
Al Struthers 44:35
say that after the games Oh yeah. What do you think?
Anton Winters 44:39
Yeah, I find it fascinating to see cuz I remember with Louise mentioned to Cal seems like an afterthought the multiplayer this sounds like they're expecting the multiplayer to be a real selling point and I suppose the it looks like we've done a lot with it so I'm that wasn't something I was thinking of had in my mind when I fought this game originally but now I'm like okay, self am I actually trying to get a goal or look into
Mike Macdermid 45:02
Yeah, no, it looks interesting. At Miss motion man is getting a physical release on September the 27th I think you said this was a limited run game yeah
Anton Winters 45:14
it's again it's it's crazy how many games we're gonna switch I love this game franchise and I didn't even know this game was oh and switch for nautical Yes. It just flew under the radar. Too many games.
Mike Macdermid 45:27
So that's just well by the time you're listening to this, it'll be just a few days a week so if it is just a few days away, but you'll be even closer by the time you're listening to this. Next up night cover nights Nike Air Max 97 Nintendo 64 crossover Nintendo 64 inspired sneaker which launches this week this is going to be expensive I would have thought out your can see you've got giant trainer on your screen so I'm assuming you're looking at
Al Struthers 45:51
I am I don't get in highly that vagaries turned in 64
Unknown Speaker 45:56
I don't got the colours of it.
Mike Macdermid 45:58
It's got the kind of the the girl Venus and it's also isn't it? Oh, no. I don't know. Is that not thinking? It's not in 64?
Anton Winters 46:04
No. Yeah. Apparently it's called like reset and start looking areas on it like buttons that mimic the console. Ah, it was interesting. I hope so. I was like, Okay,
Mike Macdermid 46:16
yeah, sure. So I'll just turning it around at the moment just to have a look.
Unknown Speaker 46:20
Yeah, I'm not I don't get it.
Mike Macdermid 46:22
It's not cheap either.
Al Struthers 46:24
No, no. Is it well, the bit I can see the moment seems suggested surrounded by the hundred 50 mark. ish. Yeah. But it doesn't either way it's no I'm looking right thing just
Anton Winters 46:37
know. It's know that at that point, you just buy us watch slight with CELTA tight to your foot and just use that.
Mike Macdermid 46:44
Exactly. I mean, that's ridiculous. Ridiculous money, but
Al Struthers 46:48
hundred $80. Just want know, there will be people out
Mike Macdermid 46:50
there who will absolutely be getting that day one that probably sell out. In fact, some people are very clever with trainers, and they'll buy the limited edition ones. Keep them in mint condition. And then you can end up selling them from massive profit years down the line. I know. I know. That is a definite thing.
Al Struthers 47:04
I figured out where the reset is. It's on the very top of the tongue. Sorry, but just
Unknown Speaker 47:08
No, no, not worth goes away.
Mike Macdermid 47:10
Okay, the wizard is getting a 30th anniversary blu ray release. What's
Anton Winters 47:15
the wizard? Oh, don't you recall is saying it's not really it's basically a one hour and 15 minute Nintendo commercial that was released. I think it was a seven and an ending movie. 989 at the climax of the movie, The Super Mario Bros free at the main villain, the movie uses the Power Glove. It's just it was basically a commercial for an end to handle the whole thing. And it's really camping and trash. It's lovely. It's just that like popcorn nonsense.
Mike Macdermid 47:52
That's fantastic. I love that I recognised the kids in Christian Slater.
Unknown Speaker 47:57
The other kids so bad.
Mike Macdermid 47:59
It's a Christian Christian, one of those Christians. That kid was in a TV show. I used to watch him as a kid. I just can't remember it all. I'm pretty sure it's Christian slick was Fred Savage. Who was in The Wonder Years. That's what you're thinking.
Unknown Speaker 48:10
That's your picture. It's The Wonder Years.
Mike Macdermid 48:13
And I think he was in The Wonder Years anyway. But it looks like the kid from The Wonder Years. So I'm assuming it's in fact, let's just double check Fred Savage, just to be sure. He's best known for his role as Kevin Arnold in The Wonder Years. Yeah, that's
Al Struthers 48:26
a good man is Yeah, he's going back. Well, yeah, I just thought I recognised that face.
Mike Macdermid 48:30
You never seen The Wonder Years that this is brilliant series where he kind of narrates over it every so often. It was just it was very of the time early 90s. Kind of just speaking of that kind of time period. I saw this today. It was an article one of the websites, the Nintendo websites. And it was a memory of a TV show, which I didn't know from the early 90s that was all based on Nintendo. And it was but they never used the word Nintendo because at the time, they weren't allowed because there was things like transformers and human which were used to sell stuff. They were so captain and that's what it was called. And yes, a captain end was basically Nintendo. So that
Al Struthers 49:07
was all meals although Nintendo cartoon characters he went through TV to Nintendo and basically
Mike Macdermid 49:11
Yeah, Game Boys was in it. And so basically, they ended up getting shut down because they use a character called Game Boy, which is clearly
Unknown Speaker 49:17
advertising a gamer
Mike Macdermid 49:19
but the whole idea of it was very interesting. I vaguely remember it but I'm going to go back and YouTube some of that when I'm very bored and end up in a YouTube black hole.
Al Struthers 49:29
Yeah, the did you go back and watch the cemetery Pizza Cats by the way? No, I haven't watched.
Mike Macdermid 49:35
We're just giving you loads and loads of reasons not
Unknown Speaker 49:37
to play a switch. Anton
Mike Macdermid 49:40
does writing these all down?
Anton Winters 49:43
I'll do I'll do my dissertation on it. Excellent. All
Mike Macdermid 49:47
right. You know what we'll have to move on because I can't believe we're so far into this week's episode. We haven't moved on yet to the rumour. So let's do this week's rumours. Not that many, which is good because we want to move on to the quiz but festival gearboxes Paul siege he was asked about Borderlands on the switch. I know everyone's been raving and talking about Borderlands three. And he answered with a simple answer. He said never seen never.
Al Struthers 50:10
That's music to my ears.
Mike Macdermid 50:12
Yeah, I would love a Borderlands on the switch Anton.
Anton Winters 50:16
Yeah. I think after the not announcing it like I feel like when they announce the remastered of the first game and BB lines free it would have been such a perfect opportunity. I think this is just he doesn't want to annoy people and kill me. Now it's a shame because they ended up porting border lines to the FIA. Yeah, that's trying to build things and I think what happened there is PlayStation poured it for them so it makes me wonder Do we need a team at Nintendo just pours the games the other developers are too lazy to do it isn't like it wouldn't cover the cost
Mike Macdermid 50:54
you know and the thing is that they could charge you know they can make a decent amount off of that and all the developers aren't gonna lose out so it's
Al Struthers 51:02
it has potential you know we start sending this podcast to Nintendo is full of great ideas Well,
Mike Macdermid 51:07
it really is but you know Nintendo have never been one to follow exactly where we think they're going to go yeah
Anton Winters 51:16
that's very true me right Borderlands three exclusively compatible with the ring con to fire your charger gun then release it to release or shall tell you
Al Struthers 51:28
know, you're it the thing that go away? Although bow
Mike Macdermid 51:31
and arrow with the ring Zelda that could be fun.
Anton Winters 51:35
Yeah, you're in my hospital training to Rossport everybody's favourite weekend. Also I
Mike Macdermid 51:42
was thinking if you had like, if you had like an Olympic game for like hula hoop, then that would be perfect with three I'm not sure how that would survive for your group but there's another rumour this week just very quickly because it has been mostly news but this I will be so happy is one of my favourite all time games not because before because there was so much hype about this. I think it was on the go for about four years before I actually came out and I was so much hype when it finally came out. It was one of the most atmospheric games I've ever played. Not necessarily the best but atmospheric It was amazing. And it's Alan week and it looks like there are rumours we're going to be getting an allen week remaster for the Nintendo Switch I'll be so happy forget this
Al Struthers 52:23
would would would it work on a small screen?
Anton Winters 52:26
Yes. It'd be perfect headphones. Yeah, but
Al Struthers 52:30
part of I mean I only played a bit of our work I didn't play much of it because I'm scared It's quite scary is quite scary. But it worked well because you're immersed in this big screen thing a tiny little screen I don't
Mike Macdermid 52:42
know I think it'd be all right i think
Al Struthers 52:45
unless you hold the screen really close to your face
Mike Macdermid 52:46
if you're you know if you're sitting you know late at night you have your headphones on you're playing Alan Wake up you know because you are fairly close if you're holding it you're not you know it's not the other side of the room when you're holding it gentlemen let's
Al Struthers 52:56
yeah really long those filling go like I do building me your whole vision and saying we're sitting close a big TV with
Mike Macdermid 53:03
what you can still planet TV it is switch
Anton Winters 53:05
yeah okay. Yes, yes,
Al Struthers 53:08
yes, but I want to thank you always good to know you but are you playing with a knife in your bed as you just said? Yeah, that's gonna be different experience and that's kind of what I'm getting at.
Mike Macdermid 53:14
Well either way I would be delighted to follow on weight comes to the switch on your plate
Anton Winters 53:19
Oh, I didn't know but I'm when it comes down to playing this I'm definitely team playing it on handheld modes cosa for me even with playing horror games on the PlayStation four. I prefer playing them on the VX I think there's something nice about just playing a horror game huddled up in your bed covers just like
Unknown Speaker 53:39
for your life
Mike Macdermid 53:40
you can put it down into like take a second and breathe and then pick up the drama it's hide under the pillow hide under the pillow No. Yeah, I'm completely time for this. I think this is a really great port for us to get I mean, is a weird one. I've got to set it expecting them to go over there we're going to do a remaster violin week just because
Al Struthers 53:59
because most people forgotten the game existed
Mike Macdermid 54:01
yeah it was a huge so much hype around it it was called week for a long time and then it was a week for a while and then eventually was Allen week
Al Struthers 54:09
the phone reviews are weren't really that great or it wasn't it wasn't bad. It was just okay. I think people are disappointed because the hype
Mike Macdermid 54:15
the hype so much and I think the storyline was quite unusual and I think a lot of people kind of just felt that you know, the gameplay mechanics weren't as good as they'd hoped. It wasn't terrible's little clunky at times. But what was great about it was that atmosphere and if you like atmospheric games then you know you will I think you're just checking to see what kind of reviews it did actually get actually much
Al Struthers 54:35
better than I remember getting 96% Yeah, yeah, I mean
Anton Winters 54:40
the thing I would find exciting about gang of portals so stated that Alan Wake the American nightmare DLC, which was borderline a whole new game and I think the combo of both some could make a really compelling package like this Yeah. Whoa. Ubisoft scalping doing it packaging up two games.
Mike Macdermid 54:57
Well, that would that would get me definitely bought that would be absolutely no decision to make for that because it would just be a whole game that I haven't played because I had never played the DLC for it. So there you go. I general game just briefly before we move on to the question of what game I really, really, really want and I haven't played a really good one in a lot of years. I really want to Star Trek game. Yeah, I used to play Star Trek Online for a while I was quite a Star Trek Online. Yeah, I remember that. And then there was the one
Al Struthers 55:25
there was a storey Voyager first person game maybe about 15 years ago it was really good first person shooter.
Mike Macdermid 55:29
Yes, there was a Deep Space Nine PC game in the mid 90s which was had that which was good. Which in it you can get past which is
Al Struthers 55:35
really annoying. Yeah, that was annoying. And those that started nation nation pointing click final universal.
Mike Macdermid 55:39
Yes, it was there. But I really would like to see anyone and there is also the
Al Struthers 55:45
one I'm under the bridge.
Mike Macdermid 55:46
Yeah, the one that's on the mirror VR. Yeah. Yeah. So that's supposed to be very good as well. So I think a Star Trek game police would be good anyway. I just thought throw that out there until you are you don't want starter idea. I
Anton Winters 55:59
know. Bye. What? Xiaomi of the space boy. Pew pew. Wow.
Mike Macdermid 56:06
Wow. Anton. all I'll say is if you've never watched Star Trek, can you please make it so?
Al Struthers 56:15
That you don't get it either reference right, let's
Mike Macdermid 56:17
move on to this week's quiz. Right then I'm telling her you're back to be quizmaster again. Yeah.

Anton Winters 58:03
Alrighty, we have a sports game with a very distinct and unique art sale released on the Nintendo Wii level games
Mike Macdermid 58:14
model not as Mario Strikers not Mario soccer.
Anton Winters 58:18
That's def definitely different titles in different regions. So I'm going to I'm going to get the point there.
Al Struthers 58:24
To be fair, that's the second time we've had that come up with a question in this quiz is
Mike Macdermid 58:27
where do they call it? Where did they call it Mario? Soccer was that in America?
Unknown Speaker 58:31
So Korea,
Unknown Speaker 58:33

Al Struthers 58:36

Al Struthers 58:58
Sleep It was 91 industry project.
Unknown Speaker 59:01
He said Street Fighter cross IL star
Mike Macdermid 59:02
Street Fighter came out in the spectrum before 1991 Street Fighter two I'll bet you you're only supposed to get one ounce of per round he said Street Fighter Are you been pretending no it's fighting and
Al Struthers 59:16
I like this question is a good question. Only because I was these faces I should really read
Mike Macdermid 59:25
the next Marco and Sonic at the Olympics.
Do we know it's fine. Do we have another Do we have any more just one more just so I can play
Anton Winters 59:40
all right. This is a open world adventure game release and developed by radical entertainment and publish for the Game Cube PlayStation two Xbox and Microsoft Windows
Mike Macdermid 59:57
Game Cube radical media was at the Samson's
Anton Winters 1:00:03
I'm looking at going into what i think i think it since I gave Street Fighter and Mario soccer is Simpsons hit and run. Yeah, I
Mike Macdermid 1:00:12
was missing I was deliberately missing calling it assassins. I don't really think that amazing show that I've watched every episode is called the Samson. I'm just having a
hit and run. Anyway. Well, the house to you in case you didn't you definitely want that one. That last one was just a bit of a bonus round. Because I just wanted to get one back because
Al Struthers 1:00:34
I don't I don't go to Mike.
Unknown Speaker 1:00:38
Thanks make. Yeah, thanks.
Mike Macdermid 1:00:40
I like this idea. I think your idea there, Anton of getting people just to actually even just send you their picture of the collection. It can be any harder than Pepsi man.
Anton Winters 1:00:50
Yeah, exactly. game to the Mickey take the Pepsi.
Mike Macdermid 1:00:53
Yeah. Yeah. So that's a great idea, Anton.
Anton Winters 1:00:58

And if we do anything, but yeah, it's gonna be weird. We could like punch each other in the face and film it like that's something we didn't like was impossible before. We didn't discuss this.
Mike Macdermid 1:01:20
We could do that. But we could also we could I mean, we could we could stream something we could record a video for you know, to put it up record us doing the podcast potentially put on YouTube.
