Switched On.
From Mike and Alastair’s childhood friendship to Anton and Mike’s podcasting escapades long before the Nintendo Switch arrived, gaming has always been the thread that’s united us. The show itself was originally formed, quite frankly, as a thinly veiled excuse to get together, talk nonsense, and share our collective obsession with the Nintendo Switch… and talk we did. What started as a casual chat soon became a full-blown celebration of the games, news, and moments that make the Switch something genuinely special.
The Nintendo Switch UK Podcast officially launched in 2018, and somehow, 300 episodes later, we’re still going strong, much to our own surprise, and we’ve no intention of stopping any time soon.
Over the years, with the incredible support of our Patreon community, we’ve dabbled in spin-off shows, video series, and the odd chaotic live stream. But at the core, nothing’s changed. It’s still fuelled by genuine passion, unhealthy amounts of coffee, and a shared love for gaming, especially all things Nintendo Switch. That’s what makes this show special… well, that and the Mike bashing.
Meet the
YAPPERS
Alastair, our resident grumpy man, realist, and possessor of suspicious amounts of world knowledge. Some say he understands numbers… and something called the stock market, whatever that is. Nevertheless, he’s our lovable grump, keeping us grounded with his no-nonsense take on all things Nintendo Switch, alongside ensuring the business side show keeps ticking over while surrounded by LEGO.
Alastair Struthers
The one known as MacDermid is our resident optimist, only just joined the show in episode one... A man of many games, little time, and even less patience, particularly when he’s losing. We mercilessly take the piddle out of him, but secretly, we love him. He’s our audio engineer and games acquisitioner-in-chief
Mike Macdermid
Anton is our so-called bank of knowledge, they are a child with shockingly little awareness of good pop culture. Possessing more hair than free time, they somehow know more about gaming history than what it’s actually like to play the games. Nevertheless, they produce the show notes and graphics from the comfort of their retro-tat-porium.

Let’s be honest, we never expected this little show to last beyond a few years, especially considering how well the Wii U went, yet here we are, 300 shows deep, still talking nonsense, debating Joy-Cons, and obsessing over every Nintendo rumour. That’s only possible thanks to you, our amazing Patreon supporters.
Your backing has kept the mics running, helped us grow, and allowed us to dive into spin-offs, video projects, live shows, and other mug related ventures. More importantly, it’s helped keep our shared love for the Nintendo Switch alive and thriving, week after week.
If you want to help keep the show ticking, unlock bonus content such as Last Call!, and become part of the Discord, come join us on Patreon. We genuinely couldn’t do it without you.
